I can't get behind Arkham Knight
Everything is just so contrived, nothing really gets explained, things are pushed into the plot that other versions did so much better and I'm expected to think Batman gives a damn? Nope.
You talking about the game or the comic series? Because Genesis has just been a pretty by the numbers and generic story that just goes for the fluff without actually explaining anything. It doesn't help that also ignores the backstory given by the game, putting its canonicity into question.
The game. All I know about the series is that it shows Jasons' past which I did hear doesn't mesh well with the game. No one bothered to explain how Batman, the worlds greatest detective, could never find Jason. Then he replaces him a few months later without discovering the body?!
The game has a remarkably terrible story. Something of an accomplishement given neither City nor Asylum have particularly good stories (Origins has a stronger story but that's not saying much)
The game basically feels like they wanted to give the people demanding a Jason Todd appearance/playable mode something. But they never gave AK much of a strong showing and kind of shrugged the actual story.
It tried to copy and past the basic idea of UTH without getting the actual point of it. I never got the impression Bruce really gave a damn about Jason beyond the standard "yeah a Robin died" vibe. As a result Jason is essentially broken far worse than canon and nothing comes of it. Sure he helps Bruce but the moment wasn't earned and no one ever makes much of it. In fact the play through I watched had the guy playing it thinking it was a different character.
