Where to start?
Tim choosing his last name as his codename seems very lazy to me. Yes, Drake means a male duck (and dragon although that isn't mentioned) which keeps the bird theme. Except the bird theme didn't need to be kept. Red Hood isn't based on a bird nor is Nightwing (since it's based on a hero from Krypton.)
Bendis writes that it's one of the most dangerous birds but aren't swans more known for attacking people? Maybe it doesn't fit but at least swan isn't his surname.
This is an idea he got from an evil version of himself and something that IMPULSE approves of. Shouldn't that be warning enough that this wasn't thought out properly?
If Tim wasn't masked going by Drake would be fine. But this is like Jason deciding to ditch the Red Hood name and go by Todd. Because you see, it means fox, etc.
I just find this extremely funny and I don't think that was the intention.
