The Timeline of Artemis Grace

An attempt at organizing the history of Artemis Grace of Bana-Mighdall in the current DCU. It's simplified so a lot of events won't have in depth details.

This is a work in process and some things haven't been clarified in canon yet. I have two potential places where Artemis could have worked for Luthor for example and I went with what I thought worked best.

• At age 16 Artemis sees the Bow of Ra for the first time and Nephthys warns her that the weapon chooses the warrior, not the other way around. The goddess doesn’t allow her to even touch it.

• Artemis trains to become the Shim’Tar with Akila.

• Akila is chosen by the gods to be the Shim’Tar. Artemis leaves Bana-Mighdall as a result.

• Someone on horseback (who might be from Qurac) manages to get past the sandstorm barrier protecting Bana-Mighdall. When Artemis investigates she finds Wonder Woman and Akila using the Bow of Ra, which seems to have driven her mad. They team up against Akila and Artemis kills her.

• Artemis is hired by Lex Luthor (*1), he has her slay everyone at the jail Hieve El Agua for using his property to perform experiments on the inmates. One of the escaping prisoners is caught by Artemis and pleads for his life. He admits he was a terrible husband and father but wants to look after his son. Solitary will later claim the man was him but it’s uncertain if that’s true since he’s not a reliable source. (*2) 

• Some unknown amount of time later Artemis stops working for Luthor and starts searching for the Bow of Ra. 

• Eventually Artemis tracks the Bow to Gotham where she meets and later teams up with Jason Todd/Red Hood and Bizarro. Jason promises to help her find the Bow.

• She reveals her past, at least the part with Akila and the Bow, to Jason. They bond for the first time as they realize the other has more depth.

• The Outlaws go to Quarc where Artemis meets Akila again and has conflicting feelings because of her guilt. She realizes that the Bow of Ra has chosen her and that the reason Akila has changed is because she wasn’t chosen by the weapon. Artemis kills Akila again and has closure. Jason and her grow closer and they realize Bizarro is dying.

• The team does a less stressful undercover mission at the circus where Artemis delights in teasing Jason and meets Nightwing/Dick Grayson.

• After Bizarro collapses after saving his teammates from Solomon Grundy Lex Luthor decides to save his a creation. Artemis gives no indication that she knows Luthor (something he noticed by played along with) and prevents Jason from attacking/angering her former boss.

*1 This is probably around the time she starts using Grace as a surname. In past canon amazons that worked for him went by Hope and Mercy so this might be a nod.

*2 Solitary was a prisoner, three in fact that combined into one being, but he mistakenly believed himself to be Willis Todd. He knew Artemis worked for Luthor and claimed that she granted him mercy.
