Honestly I don't even feel upset, I'm just wondering what the point was.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Alfred dying holds zero weight since we know he's around in Doomsday Clock. Maybe Scarecrow affected Damian or Alfred will be brought back. Either way it seems like a needless shock.
Damian doesn't come off looking so good in this yet I've seen posts praising how great he is, well written and how this issue supposedly proves it. Really? If Stephanie or Jason did this I guarantee they'd get slammed for acting so recklessly. All Damian did was plan to deal with Gotham Girl and he apparently sold his soul to do it. We don't know how he got the wand or if this will be acknowledged again but Damian selling his soul is never a good thing.
He's written as arrogant enough to go into the alone against a city filled with Batmans' rogues knowing Bane will kill Alfred. Damian doesn't look great in this and he's been messing up a lot lately.
