Grief and Diners

A good comparison for how Jason deals with grief in RHATO #27 Vol. 2 is found in RHA.

Back in Red Hood/Arsenal the leads are in a diner when Roy finds out Batman is supposedly dead but Jason never said anything. Throughout their time working together Roy has come to realize that Jason doesn't actually hate his adopted family and knows that he cares deeply about them. He feels concerned that Jason hasn't said anything before which Jason shrugs off claiming he doesn't believe it. Later on Jason starts to see he was only masking his feelings and is relieved to see Bruce is alive. Roy was so worried that he tailed his buddy to make sure he was okay.

Roy gave his friend some space but still checked up on him.

I do give Bruce credit for personally going to Jason to give him the news. But the two of them aren't in a good place no matter how friendly they act towards each other before they part. Like Roy there's also a note of worry over how Jason is handling his grief. We don't know at this stage if Bruce is checking up on Jason afterward. Jason doesn't seem affected claiming death doesn't really mean much since people come back. Much like with Roy there seems to be a sense of denial with Bruce with Jason not really believing it or at least putting up an act.

Which is why I don't think Jason "doesn't care" that Roy died like I've seen some suggest. Jason just has his own way of dealing with things and this isn't new. His emotions do come out and given his current state it might come out when he's angry. Or even at a later point.
