Willis Todd: Is who?

I'm sure there will be a lot to talk about when future issues come out about his family and past. I've discussed some of that a fair bit already. But for now I'd like to talk about a certain confirmation we got, how it works and what it can mean.

SPOILERS AHEAD

We know Willis was tested on, most of us already assumed he was alive but we have confirmation that he's Solitary. Which I admit I was hoping would be a misdirection. My reasoning was superficial based on the character designs and confusion of the bullet holed suit guy. Who I assume is also Willis?

But let's get to the heart of the matter starting with his powers. Willis claims he has Omnipresence although there seems to be some limitations outside of Earth. When his mom asks if he can take her with him we learn that he's not actually there. Which seems like a type of astral projection. Given what we've seen in previous issues this makes sense. He was able to show up at different locations the Outlaws were at without them being aware of it. Solitary already knows Bizarro licked up the liquid kryptonite off the floor when they first meet. Can he do more? Possibly, we don't know how he defeated smart Bizarro but if he has mental powers he could do it a number of ways.

Willis tells Bizarro to call him Solitary and assumes he'd figure out who he really was. But mostly he wants Bizarro to stop messing up his plans. He claims he's the one that brought the Outlaws together. The question is why?

To protect Jason after the business he had with Roy ended? I mean it's not impossible it just seems a little strange given the people he chose for the new team. Unless Lobdell is setting up a red herring it looks like Willis was the guy that begged Artemis to spare him. We know it's the same location. Artemis seems to be aware of how her actions affected Jason's life. Whatever she did stopped Willis from returning to raise his son. He could have made her think she killed him or maybe she did and he no longer has a physical body. It might have taken him awhile to get used to his powers too.

Maybe Willis wants revenge on Luthor and everyone involved. He gets Jason onto a team with Luthor' s former assassin and rejected project. Seems a little odd, no?
