DC Solicits for November

A few new minis I might try.

DOOMSDAY CLOCK #1
Written by GEOFF JOHNS
Art and cover by GARY FRANK
Variant cover by GARY FRANK
Lenticular cover
DC Comics presents to you a 12-issue maxiseries from the critically acclaimed team of writer Geoff Johns, artist Gary Frank and colorist Brad Anderson. You are not prepared for what lies ahead within these pages, good readers.
On sale NOVEMBER 22 • 40 pg, FC, 1 of 12, $4.99 US • RATED T+

I'm iffy on the whole idea of using the Watchmen. I didn't get any of the mini series but I'm considering this series because of the people involved. I'm still not decided though.

AQUAMAN #30
Written by DAN ABNETT
Art and cover by STJEPAN SEJIC
JUSTICE LEAGUE variant cover by LIAM SHARP
“UNDERWORLD” finale! After Dolphin confronts Aquaman with the horrifying truth of King Rath’s new regime, all hope for Atlantis is nearly lost until an emotional reunion with Vulko gives Arthur a renewed sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Mera attempts a dangerous new plan to penetrate the Crown of Thorns and reunite with the love of her life…at the cost of her own soul!
On sale NOVEMBER 15 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T

I'm enjoying this arc and hope I can continue. The only thing that's making me question whether I should Is the potential for Abnett doing love triangles with Dolphin.

BATGIRL AND THE BIRDS OF PREY #16
Written by JULIE BENSON and SHAWNA BENSON
Art by ROGE ANTONIO
Cover by YANICK PAQUETTE
Variant cover by KAMOME SHIRAHAMA
“Manslaughter” part two! As an illness that affects half of Gotham City’s population grows, Batgirl, Black Canary and Huntress pick up some unexpected help from Catwoman, Ivy and Harley, as well as some welcome backup from Batwoman, Spoiler, Gotham Girl and Wonder Woman. But as the Birds of Prey grow closer to discovering the source of the outbreak, what they find won’t end the plague and might only make it grow faster.
On sale NOVEMBER 8 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T

This same plot was used years ago in the Justice League cartoon. It's not one I enjoy and feels very lazy. Not just because it's been done before but because it seems like a weak excuse for female heroes to get together.

All I have to say about Tim Drakes' return is that the solicit is wrong because he never died. It's like the Grayson ads that made jt sound like Dick had been dead longer than a minute.

Can we make Damian apologize to everyone not just Nu Wally? I know it will take awhile but I'd read a series of that.

If Seeley leaves Nightwing and other Eternal writers don't take over I might buy the series.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #16
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by DEXTER SOY
Cover by MIKE McKONE
Variant cover by GUILLEM MARCH
“Bizarro Reborn” part three! They may only use the title “Outlaws” as cover for Red Hood’s clandestine war on crime—but their status as Gotham City’s most wanted has landed them in the prison yard at Belle Reve Penitentiary! But are they locked in with the Suicide Squad—or is the Suicide Squad locked in with the Outlaws? Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and Deadshot go out of the way to make Red Hood, Artemis and Bizarro feel right at home in this maximum-security prison…while Amanda Waller rustles up three new brain bombs!
On sale NOVEMBER 8 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T+

I'll be honest, I'm not loving this solicit. It seems to imply they lose to the Det team and that annoys me because I want more wins for this team. Especially Jason who's been a punching bag for other writers. Maybe it will go down differently but I hate the idea of Jason Todd going to jail. I've mentioned why this doesn't make sense to me many times. Plus I'm sick and tired of the Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn. Lobdell has been the only writer to really do a good Jason Todd in years. Sure there has been okay takes but Lobdell has gone beyond those to really explore the character. I'll get this of course it's just my initial impression isn't good due to the factors I mentioned.

TRINITY #15
Written by ROB WILLIAMS
Art by V KEN MARION and MICK GRAY
Cover by PHILIP TAN
JUSTICE LEAGUE variant cover by BEN OLIVER
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details. Includes a code for a free digital download of this issue.
“DARK DESTINY” finale! Constantine’s quick thinking has bought the trinity some time, but is it enough for Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to stop Circe and Ra’s al Ghul from unleashing the Pandora Pits? Uncertainties mount as Red Hood, Artemis and Bizarro rush in to...save the day?
On sale NOVEMBER 15 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T

This still could be good if the Outlaws do actually save the day.

MYSTIK U #1
Written by ALISA KWITNEY
Art by MIKE NORTON
Cover by JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO
Leave the world of the mundane behind and step through the magical doors of Mystik U! After a tragic accident, a young Zatanna Zatara, under the guidance of Rose Psychic, enrolls in a mysterious university that teaches its students how to master their unique brands of magic. Will Zatanna fit in with her new classmates (Enchantress, Sargon the Sorcerer, Faust and more!) and unlock her true potential? Find out in this exciting bimonthly miniseries from novelist Alisa Kwitney (DESTINY) and Mike Norton (Revival, Runaways)!
On sale NOVEMBER 29 • 48 pg, FC, 1 of 3, $5.99 US • RATED T+

It's great to finally hear about this again and see what it's about. I miss reading about magical adventures so I might give this a try.

NEW TALENT SHOWCASE 2017 #1
Written by Erica Harrell, Desirée Proctor, David Accampo, Aaron Gillespie, Al Letson, Tony Patrick and Owl Goingback
Art by Sam Lotfi, Minkyu Jung, Lynne Yoshii, Siya Oum, Matt Merhoff, Lalit Sharma and Jagdish Kumar
Montage cover by JIM LEE, SCOTT WILLIAMS and others
The latest graduates from the DC Talent Development Workshops show off their skills in stories starring some of DC’s greatest characters. In these tales, Poison Ivy fights an ancient demon, Doctor Fate is confronted by the cost of magic, Red Hood and Duke Thomas face off in a training day simulation and so much more!
On sale NOVEMBER 29 • 80 pg, FC, $7.99 US • RATED T

Too pricey and I'm already dreading the Jason and Duke training. Like I said above other writers aren't kind to Jason or even know how he's supposed to be written. I barely read Duke previously and have zero interest in his book.

I'll need to budget to decide what I'm getting.
