Jeff Lemire NOT on new Robin title

He's taking over for Justice League Dark. I'm not sure if I'll stick with the title. For the most part I like it well enough but I'm not invested in the characters enough to feel up to a creative change. I've been thinking about dropping Superboy and Demon Knights too, but only because their a pain to get half the time. I'll stick to all three titles for at least their first arc.

One of my favorite panels of the month

I'm going to do a meta sort of post on JLI, RHATO, and the other books I kept with in the new 52. I do think the first two will be more in depth just because I feel more of a connection to them than the rest.

I'll explore the themes, surprises and character development in each series. But this panel is one of the reasons I've grown so fond of RHATO. Each issue slowly shows the characters humanity. No one is as one note as you might assume at first glance. I love books that make me care about the characters.

Robin title?

Yeah I got my comics but I've been a little slow on reviewing them. But lately I've been interested in rumors I've been hearing. First was a teasing conversation betweem Marcus To and Sterling Gates on the possibilty of getting a Damian Wayne book.

Then there was a rumor from Bleeding Cool that the boy Robins (no word on Steph) were sharing a new title. This one sounds a little less likely as the source isn't always right plus the boys all appear in their own respective titles. The Damian series sounds more likely because of the creators involved. I would like a book showcasing all of the Robins adventures both in the past in the present.

Quick reviews on Superboy #4 & Demon Knights #4

I got these issues a while ago but I never felt like reviewing them. There wasn't really much to say about either.

SPOILER AHEAD

That time Batman cared a.k.a. when he revealed his ID.

There was some talk during Morrisons' run about him not playing up the fact the Joker saw Batman unmasked. The thing is--he already knew. I think it was apparent in Death in the Family that he figured it out. Well actually Batman flat out told him but stupidly saying he knew Joker killed Jason. Yes Jason not Robin. At the U.N. Joker starts laughing when he sees Bruce Wayne.

Think maybe a first name isn't enough to make the connection. Well Batman was kind enough to give his arch-enemy his victims' last name as well. The Joker doesn't particularly care about Bruce Wayne just Batman. He might be insane but he's smart. He can put the pieces together.

The name is one he remember very well. In fact he used it to gloat Nightwing on during a fight. (Which briefly resulted in him killing the clown.) I kind of miss the Bat family getting this defensive over Jason.  Even if Batman was incredibly reckless.

Are editor notes really that big of a problem?

I've come across a few different sites where people complain over the little editor boxes that say "last issue" or "it happened in issue #2." I have to ask what is the big problem with this? It's not like they think we're stupid (like I've seen them be accused of) but it's rather for new readers. That's why some books have the main characters introduced every issue. Seriously try picking up a trade from the 90s if you think this is bad. I got the Clone Saga tpb and they recap everything every issue to the point you want to scream "enough already!"

When I started comics I didn't always follow issue to issue. Sometimes I skipped story arcs if they dealt with things I didn't care for and if a story summary looked interesting I'd use those notes to figure out what books I needed.

Wow, that's pretty awesome!

There are some things that I don't like about Kenneth Rocaforts' art but this isn't one of them. He seems to be getting better every issue. I love the detail in this. Although I have no idea what those shredded bits around Jasons' neck are.
