Filling in the timeline with Weeklies?

I think it would help the current state of DC comics--A LOT-- if we could read stories from it's past to fill the gaps. Because the thing that drew me to DC in the first place was the sense of history it had and the legacy of its heroes. So select some heroes and show some of their past for a year or so of weekly comics. Show Dick Grayson become Robin, the struggles he faces and at the end have him grow into the role. Then do another weekly series showing him becoming Nightwing while Jason Todd becomes Robin. Have the writers that do the solo titles have input or actually writing. A lot of ground could be carried if this was done.

Writers Block: The Conflicting Relationship of Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd Part 2

I'll be getting into the way they act and a couple theories I have.

Writers Block: The Conflicting Relationship of Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd Part 1

Since pre-52 often portrayed Jason as a different person appearance to appearance/or had things constantly retconned, this will mainly focus on the new 52 characterizations. To get some insight on one of the most complex relationships in the bat family.

Short Review: Doctor Fate #1

My curiosity prompted me to get this now instead of waiting.

Superhero, etc. art

Artists share their sketches including Brett Booth who does a Booster Gold redesign. I'd have to see what it looks like in color but it looks like the shiny pants are back and that's a plus.

DC gets ready for 8 limited series in 2016

I've been thinking about this for awhile and while nothing really catches my eye it's always nice to see them try things out.

  • Swamp Thing by Len Wein, I know there was some disappointment that Swamp Thing wasn't appearing so I'm happy for fans that wanted this.
  • Metal Men by Len Wein, Ditto. Much like Shazam this is one of the most requested series I've seen.
  • Katana: Cult of the Kobra by Mike Bar, I'm mildly curious since I've heard good things about the character and haven't seen much in the books I've read. I don't think it will be enough to get me to buy it but we'll see if the solicits sound good.
  • Poison Ivy: Circle of Life & Death by Amy Chu, This is the only villain I've seen fans asking to get a series. Ever since BOP onward which is cool because it means DC is listening.
  • Metamorpho by Aaron Lopresti, As writer and artist.
  • Sugar & Spike by Keith Giffin, A definite nope.
  • Raven by Marv Wolfman, At the very least I wonder what he'll do with this take of his character.
  • Firestorm by Gerry Conway, I never could get into Firestorm. I think the costume was a big problem and I always found him/them dull in the books I've read.

I might get this just to figure out what's going on

I think this is implying the Titans might have existed in DCnU before Tims' team? The solicit mentions the original Titans (Dick, Donna, etc.) which raises a lot of questions considering the new origins. Roy Harper had a different look (not that I expect anyone to remember one panel Rocafort did.) Donna Troy has literally been created with no prior past and here she's wearing her red TT uniform while most of the characters are sporting their newest looks. But that's not Dick because this is Dick Graysons' new Robin costume.

This is Jason Todds' Robin costume.

Some of the details are missing from artist to artist but everyone should have an idea of Jasons' suit since it's in the case. He's the only Robin with a yellow cape (everyone else has black on one side), the clasps are the same, as is the belt, and the gap between the gloves and shoulders. Although his mask is a red domino while the Robin on the Titans Hunt cover has Dicks' mask. I prefer Jasons' uniform but come on, don't forget who wears what.

Robin in Batman vs. Superman?

There has been rumors for awhile but there's been more hope in recent days. This being the latest one and I have to say he looks too old for the Robin part. Maybe playing the same character later on?

Ant-Man Movie

It took a little of MC2 and gave it a twist. I really liked the movie although it should be noted it's not the typical superhero film. It has heart and like the other Marvel movies ties into everything. Given the way it's set up there should be some great interactions to come in the future.

Also there are two credit scenes to wait for. One for the movie it's self and another for Ant-Mans' next appearance.

Roy Harpers' Behavior

Arsenal has, in my opinion, been pretty awesome and had some great moments in the relaunch. Even so he has done a few things that have caught my attention.

Are You a Superman fan or a Batman fan?

This is the typical comic book fan question many ask. I like to think Wonder Woman is excluded only because she represents the middle ground between the two extreme. Some have asked whether people pick Batman because he's more relatable as a human that suffered loss or a wish fulfillment of being rich. Do I prefer Batman? Techically yes but it's more his mythos. I actually enjoy his family far more than him.

The Robins and Batgirls are closer to the audience than any of the Trinity. In the case of (most of ) the Robins (and pre-Flashpoint Cassandra Cain) their more than sidekicks their the heroes' kids either by blood or adoption. You don't really have that with Clark or Diana (with the exception of Chris Kent.) There's something very special these bat kids. Yes Bruce can be the biggest ass but there's something rather touching about him choosing them and building a surrogate family. Unless of course you read that as him putting together an army of disposable soldiers. (My dad was disturbed to learn how many their have been.)

So I guess what I'm saying is I'm more interested in Batman just because of the characters around him.

I was curious to see if this was better than the two sentence spoiler sounded. I watched this online so thoughts for it below.

Booster Gold in Batman Arkham Knight...Sort of

I'm watching online playthroughs and there's an Easter egg with a Booster Gold poster that has his tag line on it. Right now I'll take what I can get of Booster appearances.

Doomed #2

Is he a hero or a villain? Neither?

SPOILERS AHEAD

Jokers' ID

In a lot of comic circles fans seem to think Johns will be revealing who the Joker is. Yes, he played with it but would he do it? I can't see that being done, at least not outside the bat offices.

DC Comics October Solicits

I was waiting for these for awhile since something "big" was supposed to happen this month.

DC Movies

I'm trying not to get too excited over rumors but if the Suicide Squad rumors are true then one of my titles will be getting a lot of attention. That's great if it happens but at the same time I'm worried about execution.

Batman and Robin Eternal

On the one hand we have a much beloved character returning and on the other the same writers from Batman Eternal are back. Because of the latter I'm not going to get this and I'm actually dreading the fallout. So there goes any lingering hope I had for this series.

I'll talk about Robin war elsewhere. Semi-Spoilers below if you can't guess who's back.

Red Hood/Arsenal #2

Roy wants them to go legit instead of remaining Outlaws. Jason hasn't accepted the idea quite yet. Now the duo have to face Mimes in Paris.

SDCC 2015-Collectibles

Thus far I'm pretty disappointed with the selection for upcoming releases. I would have thought the Capullo line would at least offer more members of the bat family but no. So far no plans for time travelers, missing bat members (Stephanie/Cassandra, etc) not even a pack of Robins to celebrate the 75th anniversay. There's still a few days left but a good deal has already been announced. Is there anything left for DCC to talk about?

Bruce's Timing

It just occurred to me that Bruce's "death" has excellent timing since it means that once again he can avoid taking responsibility for his actions. Later on he can return and no one can yell at him (at least not for awhile) without looking bad. I wouldn't put it past Bruce and it's amusing to imagine him scheming of ways to get out of awkward confrontations.
