DC Animated Movie Subtracts the Robins

Because apparently only Dick and Damian matter. Well that killed the last bit of interest I had in getting these movies.

Jason: Only got one movie, a mention as being dead in Young Justice and the Dark Knight Returns.

Tim: A fusion of Jason and his character in the animated series then in Young Justice.

Seriously I thought DC implied they were celebrating all of them for the 75th anniversay.

Rip Hunter being on TV

I know about it, I'm just feeling a little conflicted. Sure it's great that the character is showing up for a wider audience, I'm happy that he's at least getting that attention. I never watched the show and I'm not sure about the actor they picked. Don't get me wrong I'm sure he's a good actor he just doesn't look like Rip. I wouldn't see a row of actors and guess he's our Time Master.

I admit I've always been a little picky with live action depictions of superheroes and don't agree even when people fan cast. For example I don't think Owen Wilson is right--at all--for Booster Gold despite what some people claim.

The Worst Thing for Comics?

I've been reading a lot of comments lately about people feeling jaded with comics in general. Mad at Marvel for some of the less mature creators trolling fans. Event fatigue. Not wanting to go back to pre-relaunch stories while others want an end to the new 52. I understand all of these feelings. I gave some thought to what the worst thing for me was. I think it's lack of change.

Not to say I support continuing rebooting or getting rid of relationships. In a way that's lack of change too because it goes back to square one. The status quo can be boring. Why should I invest in a couple if I know their going to break up to move onto the next thing? Couples can change and have drama. How can I accept a villain has become a good guy if it will be undone because of their iconic status as the bad guy? Does anyone think the bat kids are ever going to have children of their own in the main canon?

That was one of the reasons I adored Booster Golds' series. He could get a happy ending, in fact it was vital to ensure all of creation continued. Getting from point A to Z was where the story was with plenty to explore. I guess we might get a little of this with Jurgens Batman Beyond but I'm expecting it to be sadder. Still think of all the wonderful surprises we got in the last universe. We had legacy heroes, Roy becoming a dad (*1), Booster Gold stepping up, I want those possibilties.

*1 I'm less eager for Roy to get together with Cheshire now. She wanted to use him as her test rat for poisons, cut off his arms and was just too disturbing.

So the next 2 months...

I'm finding it a little hard to be excited about it. Right now I'm more interested in getting the books in June and the solicits for July. I keep thinking the main event book will be like Forever Evil and hardly have any appearances from the Time Masters. This also makes me wonder about September, if there will be a celebration month like there previously was even though it's not called the new 52 anymore. If that happens it will kill the momentum for ongoing titles and the new series.

Oh yeah, I also looked at some prices for the upcoming books and some of those solicits were off on a few of the prices. For example We are Robin isn't $3.99 it's $2.99. Here's hoping the event is fun.

Batman Eternal 2 is Coming

Which Snyder says will be more focused on the Robins since it's the 75th anniversay of the boy wonder. I just hope it's better than the first Batman Eternal and actually treats all the characters with respect. I could do without a certain character too. Hopefully there will be new writers after my fears were confirmed with this volume. I know it's prety much a pipe dream but I'd like actual in character portrayals, development and a family connection being built up.

Weird or not Weird Enough

Sometimes I wonder if it's a good thing stories aren't as crazy as they used to be. I mean they still have a certain oddness at times but then you find something like this:

Which makes me half hope to see it in present comics just to see how the characters would react to it.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #40

The final issue. The leads will be relaunched into two series but it just won't be the same. We've been through a lot, the many controversies from the first issue to Roys' hat, the two other writers and tie in material.

DCC News & New TPB

Good news from DCC. From now on they will make figures from all of DC not just the new 52. It's in a smaller scale than the previously made new 52 DCC figures which kind of sucks. Why didn't they just keep the same scale in the first place?

I also found out that DC is FINALLY releasing the post-Crisis Jason Todd Robin issues onto trade paperback. Now everyone can finally see how dorky he was. Not to mention Ma Gunn, the teacher for the school for boys Batman took Jason to that frowned on smoking and suggested brooze instead.

DC Solicts in June

A lot of books are jumping up into the $3.99 range but happily none of my books are. After two months of paying $3.99 to $4.99 prices it'd be nice to go back to $2.99.

Canon and Continuity: Not the Same

Recently Jim Lee has talked about this basically saying that things happen in canon but that doesn't mean the continuity has to be followed in all the titles. Which basically means enjoy what you want and ignore the rest concerning team book vs. solo titles, etc. Which I was basically doing anyway with the JLI Annual, the Tynion run and Batman Eternal. Any stories or portrayals you'd drop?

Redesign Woes

You know that feeling when your favorite character(s) get costume redesigns that you HATE. What makes it worse is nearly everyone else seems to love it and you just don't understand why.

Starfires' New 52 History

I've seen some speculation on whether or not the new Starfire series will keep to the current canon. That being the case it seemed like a good time to sum up what was revealed so far.
