Short Review: Action Comics Special

I'm behind on some reviews but this was a surprising issue.

SPOILERS AHEAD

I didn't think quite so much of this issue would focus on Lex Luthor. Two oht of three stories were framed around Supermans' long time arch nemesis. Jurgens had a Lex from the future return to attempt to finally end Superman. It was a look into his mind and a nice nod to past canon with his admiration towards Lois and Lex's battle with cancer. The fact that the future version knows so much about the Kents is frightening. He even knows what Clark would do. Yet he still can't comprehend why Superman doesn't attempt to gain actual power or why he's always out matched by the man of steel.

Russel has some excellent lines in his story. I could quote a lot of them just for the political comments alone. I do question why Batman had to hide instead of joining as Bruce Wayne but it really doesn't matter. This is a mostly Lex Luthor tale about him not understanding why he doesn't get more respect. The moon pie bit is hilarious and kind of reminded me of those famous pie ads. And like in old canon Lex is inspired to run for president after Superman humiliates him.

The last tale is more simple as Lois feels bad after losing something valuable. Clark shows why he's an awesome husband. Really a good read and an excellent issue.
