The Woes of being a Comic fan

This year I'm trying to do my Christmas shopping early but no one is being particularly helpful when I ask for ideas. (So they shouldn't be surprised if I end up giving them gift cards.) This kind of confuses me because I was under the impression that you want to get things you like as gifts. Not that anyone seems to care what I want either.

I made a list and lo and behold no one takes me seriously when I put that I want a subscription to the comics I listed. I like comics, this would save me money on a few series and gas money. What's not to love? Sure it's not something you can really wrap under the tree but believe me I'd love it!

  1. I am so with you on this one, but as people told me when I said that to them. I will just give you cash and you can pick them out yourselves. Even the wife said that to me.

  3. LOL. No they do not. I did get a gift card for barnes and noble for my birthday and got a subscription to Action Comics for $25 on their website. I loved using the gift card for that.

  4. It is tough being a comic fan. Nobody really knows what to get, for fear, that you already have it. Which is why, when my kids or my sweet Babboo ask me, I have to be very very specific.

And that is how I got my Kilowog figure.

  5. Jimmy: Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place because I can't find it. Or maybe they don't have JLI? But yeah I'd love to do that too.

Sally: Well I did put the titles down. My sister did get me a subscription to X-Men when she was a teen but other than that no one bothers. Yep, that's how you do it. Are you asking for either of the Guy figures this year? One of them is a Red Lantern.

  6. Yeah they don't have JLI. They have a very very limited selection, but when I get a gift card it is the first place I look. This is how I am reading Action and Green Arrow.

If that link doesn't work try typing in Comic Book Subscriptions in the search bar. They arrive a couple weeks after the release date, but with those two that doesn't bother me at all.

  7. It works. Thanks! Yeah they don't have any of the books I'm currently into unless the Titans works for Teen Titans now. I'm wondering about ordering directly from DC. I can't recall what Marvel was like since I never paid attention to the release dates back then.

  8. At one point when I thought about subscribing directly through DC it was two weeks after release date, but they don't have that statement on the website anymore so I don't know. I may get one or two for Christmas and if I do I will let you know.
