Amazons Attack #1

It's a notoriously bad series that I'm reading digital back issues of.

This series starts with a father and son visiting the Lincoln memorial. The scene it's self is corny and unbelievable before the Amazons even appear. The kid (who's apparently younger than he appears once we see his height) just randomly points out two words and his dad is able to tell what they were? He also thinks it's a good idea to tell his small child how Lincoln was assassinated before the Amazons cut him off. Figuratively and then literally. Then they kill the kid and act like man haters that even find laws disgusting because their "man laws."

A newly resurrected Hippolyta has somehow taken over her position of Queen despite previously dissolving the matriarchy. While this is my first time reading this I already know from others saying it but this will never been properly explained. I'll get more into who's actually supposed to be in charge when I get further into the series. As for why Hippolyta is back it's because of Circe for reasons I've heard make no sense. Or rather her plan makes no sense. Anyway she has the queen completely under her control. None of the Amazons trust Circe before yet one of them speaks to her like their allies? Given the way other Amazons act later on I call BS if this is supposed to be mind control.

Hippolyta set up camp for her war in the Smithsonian using Archie Bunker's chair as her throne. It's a truly intimidating site to see the queen of the Amazons sitting in a comfy chair used on a sitcom.

Despite claiming the whole war was started to free Diana the reason changes to bringing down men in general when they can't find her. If you ever read a well written run of Wonder Woman and know the Amazons this will be especially horrible. Killing innocents, one being a child, that had nothing to do with the situation isn't how most of them would act. It's going to get a little more complex but the Themyscrians don't typically act like this.

There's a lot of boring stuff in this, things I doubt newcomers would understand and I doubt this series would get them interested. If anything it damages Wonder Woman, the supposed lead that only shows up for one page at the end. We're supposed to believe the Amazon can bring Washington DC to it's knees within minutes with just primitive weapons. The Amazons do have more impressive weapons but those aren't shown in this issue.
