Superman arrives in the future seeing what an impact he had on the world.
Old SPOILERS AHEAD
Superman learns that he created a dynasty of Supermen, meets the descendants of Lex and Jimmy, learns of insignia badges that grant people powers and faces a challenge to entertain the people. Solaris cloaks to mess up the games and turns the crowd against Superman by making them believe he's a Bizarro. The man of steel is saved from the mob by Hawkmen and Platinum of the Metal Men. Superman manages to escape to go to the fortress of solitude.
Overall: This is the first real look at the future we get in the Omnibus as it's shown right after DC One Million #1. It introduces the concepts of the power badges, how depended people are on the headnet, the unlimited space fields called Tesseract and Superman 's legacy. While a great deal seems to be upbeat like Superman's positive influence there's hints of the negatives of this future.
Just about anyone can have powers now which makes them more prone to misuse them when mob mentality sets in. None of the people shown attacking Superman (outside the actual skilled warriors--the Hawkmen) seem to know what their doing. Their dependence on headnet makes them instantly believe anything without questioning any of the information they receive. They freak out when they can't hear it and don't know how to function without it.
The Tesseract I've heard about some time ago with Chronos and the weekly 52 series. It's a cool idea of putting dimensions with unlimited spaces in different locations.
While this issue gives some history on the legacy Clark creates there's still a great deal we don't know at this point. Which makes me want to learn more rather than feel annoyed that it's not fleshed out here. I felt bad for Platinum and the Metal Men who are all but forgotten to slowly break down in a dump.
The Hawkmen were a nice nod to Hawkman and proved there is actual sanity and logic in this world. Unlike the regular people their not posers playing at hero. They have honor and the smarts to make sure their sure about who Superman is.
This had a lot of world building that was really enjoyable and makes me want to read more of this world. It's exactly what a tie in should be to add to a story without feeling pointless.
Questions Asked?: Luthor Luthor? Did his parents give up and decide picking another L first name was too hard?
We're Jimmy's Turtle Boy adventure(s) so epic that his descendant had to honor him by using that for her insignia power badge?
