DC Solicts for May 2018

Not as many titles interested me as I had hoped.

SPOILERS AHEAD

THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD:  BATMAN AND WONDER WOMAN #4 Written by LIAM SHARP • Art and cover by LIAM SHARP
Elatha may have been the most recent king of Tir Na Nóg to die, but death is never far from the throne. Batman and Wonder Woman learn about the realm’s first king, his mysterious silver arm and what bearing it may have on the problems of the present, as the Fomorians grow increasingly weary of these strangers and their questions. The duo’s investigation was supposed to bring answers and keep the peace, but it might burn into the spark that ignites the first shots of war!
On sale MAY 16 • 32 pg, FC, 4 of 6, $3.99 US • RATED T+

One of the few books I might get. I pre-ordered this one and wouldn't be getting the issue until a week or two after it comes out. I hope this is good, I want a bigger pull list and more Wonder Woman books to read.

BATMAN #46 Written by TOM KING • Art by TONY S. DANIEL and SANDU FLOREA • Cover by TONY S. DANIEL • Variant cover by OLIVIER COIPEL
“THE TRAVELERS” part two! Booster Gold’s wedding present has screwed up Batman’s past, and done even more damage to his present. Now, with the Caped Crusader himself refusing to cooperate, the only way for Booster to correct this runaway timeline is to get Catwoman on his side. But with her own past altered, can he make Catwoman recognize the qualities in her husband-to-be that brought them together in the first place? Plus, if Batman isn’t doing his job, Gotham City may become way more dangerous than our bumbling time-traveler might be ready for.
On sale MAY 2 • • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T

I don't like King's writing, I don't think he has natural dialogue or gets characters. More often than not he seems to have out of character writing and reduce them to simple stereotypical traits. Booster Gold is obviously one of my favorite characters that I've been waiting to see more of. I haven't been wowed by his appearance in the current Action Comics arc as the story feel extremely drawn out. But Booster is still presented as someone that takes time travel very seriously and is trying to fix something Superman messed up due to his emotional state. Booster has constantly struggled to get out of the role as a screw up class clown that many writers tried to push into and how is he written in the solicit?

As someone that screwed up the timeline because of his gift and called a bumbling time traveler. Now it could just be the solicit but as I stated above I don't have good experiences with King's writing. I don't know if he can actually right a complex character like Booster properly. He also hinted that Harley Quinn was appearing with Booster in a tweet of their action figures which makes me dread this more.

“The Last Will and Testament of Lex Luthor”! When Superman’s world was reborn, his greatest enemy became his most unexpected ally. But does that truly reflect Lex Luthor—or was it all a sham? I'm considering this one and--

NIGHTWING #44 Written by BENJAMIN PERCY
Art by CHRISTOPHER MOONEYHAM
Cover by DECLAN SHALVEY
Variant cover by YASMINE PUTRI
“THE BLEEDING EDGE” part one! Change is on the horizon when a new technologist sets his sights on Blüdhaven, creating a holographic, interconnected city where everyone is an individual and also part of a larger network. It’s the Internet made physical! Gentrification on gigabyte-laced steroids. But when this new utopia encroaches on his turf, Nightwing starts to uncover a sinister plot based not on revenge…but on a reckoning. “The Bleeding Edge” begins here, setting Dick Grayson on a path to clarify the ideals at his very core: his sense of home and identity.
On sale MAY 2 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T

I've been waiting to get this series regularly. I'm not sure if Percy is the writer to make this title interesting to me.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #22 Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by DEXTER SOY
Cover by TREVfOR HAIRSINE
Variant cover by GUILLEM MARCH
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.
The Penguin has redeveloped waterfront property into a new boardwalk attraction for children of all ages, but Red Hood knows any “legitimate” business of the Penguin’s is a cover for something illegitimate. Plus, Artemis pays a visit to Lex Luthor to find out about the “side effects” of Bizarro’s revival, though Lex might be more concerned with dredging up his past with the wayward Amazon than answering any of her questions.
On sale MAY 9 • 32 pg, FC, • $3.99 US • RATED T

Does Penguin factor into the Bizarro stuff or is he just a distraction for Jason? I'm don't know if the side effects are just things Artemis assumes, things we've been shown or new. Artemis has a past with Lex? Please don't be romantic, I say that instead of enemies just because Jason has brought up twice that she's "defended" Lex. If they just hate each other it might be fun to have Creeper and the two of them stuck in a room together.

It does mean that Lex isn't just concerned with Bizarro. Which was kind of hinted at with the screens focused on Artemis and Jason. I don't know if he still knows Bruce's ID but I'd assume so if Jason meet him without a mask. It would be cool if he had interest in the trio as individuals and was a constant presence in the series.

Not getting No Justice and I find it amusing that Batgirl's solicit talks about her acting out of character.
