It's that time again: DC Solicits

I love looking at solicits because having to wait a month between issues is pretty rough. It does annoy me when some spoilers are shown but I'm willing to believe the BIG ones revealed this month are misleading. Some books I don't get are thrown in too.

TEEN TITANS #7
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art and cover by BRETT BOOTH and NORM RAPMUND
1:25 B&W Variant cover by BRETT BOOTH and NORM RAPMUND
On sale MARCH 28 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Are the Teen Titans ready to stage an assault on N.O.W.H.E.R.E.? No way! But as Red Robin explains to the rest of his team, they’ll have to rally to save the Superboy from certain death. And through all of this, only Solstice learns a secret Red Robin has been hiding that could tear the team apart just as they have finally come together!

I can't recall any hints of things Red Robin has purposely kept hidden although a bad guy made him forget something in the recent issue. Lots of fun.

SUPERBOY #7
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by R.B. SILVA and ROB LEAN
Cover by SHANE DAVIS
On sale MARCH 14 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Superboy’s come back to N.O.W.H.E.R.E. with vengeance on his mind – but Rose Wilson is waiting for him. Right from the start, she was the one meant to bring him down when he went out of control – and this fight is going to be out of control! What can one woman with swords do against the most powerful teenager in the world? You – and Superboy – will be very surprised indeed!

I'm looking forward to seeing what Rose can do. Lobdell has done amazing things with Superboys' powers and writing "Red" so I'm really curious what will be explored with Rose. Let's not forget she was a precon.

Art by AARON LOPRESTI and MATT RYAN
Cover by DAVID FINCH and RICHARD FRIEND

With the Signal Men defeated and Earth saved from certain annihilation, the members of Justice League International expected to bask in glory and appreciation. Such is not the case as a new threat, one far more dangerous than anyone dared suspect, emerges and attacks with dire results, forever altering the team and sending it in a bold, new and unexpected direction. On sale MARCH 28 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Straight off the shocking events of last month’s I, VAMPIRE #6, vampires across the world have gone berserk, attacking anyone and everyone with a pulse. Fearing her apocalyptic vision of the future has come to pass, Madame Xanadu mobilizes the team to intervene. But everything the JL Dark members know about how to slay a vampire is useless, for the world has changed. It’s a crossover that had to be, continuing into this month’s I, VAMPIRE #7!

This could be fun, I'm not really a huge vampire fan as the only vampires I ever truly enjoyed seeing were the ones in Joss Whedons' 'verse. But I can certainly see the appeal more than say zombies. I'm a fan of these crossover ideas DC seem to be playing with although I'm not going to get I, Vampire.

DEMON KNIGHTS #7
Written by PAUL CORNELL
Art by DIOGENES NEVES and OCLAIR ALBERT
Cover by MIKE CHOI
On sale MARCH 14 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
This is it! The walls have fallen, the battle is joined, and the only possible outcome is death…but the Demon Knights keep fighting! History has a grand destiny in store for this alliance of unlikely outcasts – should they survive this issue, that is! After all, beyond the mountains, on the road to Alba Sarum, greater evils than the Horde are lurking…

Even after three issues of this book I still have no idea what to expect. I know certain characters have to survive in some form (Jason Blood, Xanadu, etc.) and I haven't got the full scope of the characters personalities yet. But the villainess looks pretty kick ass.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #7
Written by PETER J. TOMASI
Art by CLAUDE ST. AUBIN and SCOTT HANNA
Cover by IVAN REIS and JOE PRADO
On sale MARCH 21 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
In the aftermath of the bloody first arc of the series, John Stewart must bring the body of a fallen Lantern back to his family. But how can John tell them the truth: that he caused this Lantern’s death!

Is it just me or is John the most tragic of the Earth Lanterns. No seriously think about it. Hal may of gotten taken over but at least he can say it wasn't entirely his fault. Kyle and Guy had more personal disasters. But John? Not counting the fact his wife was brutally murdered the guy has been responsible for the death of one planet full of life forms, a planet that was a green lantern that he purposely put down to save lives, and now this. There needs to be a John issue where he's given hugs and support or something. Because this is like a congo line of trauma.

BATWING #7
Written by JUDD WINICK
Art by BEN OLIVER
Cover by JASON FABOK
On sale MARCH 7 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Batwing comes to Gotham City! Batwing and Batman race back to the city hoping to stop the killer Massacre from assassinating the last two members of Africa’s lost super-team, The Kingdom! Meanwhile, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin are already on the ground leading the search. Plus: The dark past of the Kingdom is revealed!

Batwing is a book I've been seriously thinking of. Maybe if/when I cut another book. I've been hearing great things about it. A good chunk of the bat family are going to appear and I'm curious how Damian and Babsgirl will interact given his interactions with Cass and Steph. On a side note this is the cover that accidently had Batgirl with blond hair before it was corrected. The internet went crazy over a simple mistake. Guess we should be glad the rest of the family has such distinct costumes.

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #7
Written by DAN JURGENS
Art by AARON LOPRESTI and MATT RYAN
Cover by DAVID FINCH and RICHARD FRIEND
On sale MARCH 7 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
With the Signal Men defeated and Earth saved from certain annihilation, the members of Justice League International expected to bask in glory and appreciation. Such is not the case as a new threat, one far more dangerous than anyone dared suspect, emerges and attacks with dire results, forever altering the team and sending it in a bold, new and unexpected direction.

What is this, like the third cover the team has been thrashed on? Godiva is still on the cover and the mystery lady is no where in sight. I think this is when the roster shake up will start which is a shame as I'm fine with this set up. I guess Batman is safe because he's not even a offical member. Glad to see Booster front and center and hope there's lots of fun things to come. Not too thrilled with this cover art. It reminds me of something but I can't recall what.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #7
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art and cover by KENNETH ROCAFORT
On sale MARCH 21 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Red Hood is convinced that the super assassin Essence set him up in his battle against the Untitled…and Arsenal and Starfire are prepared to help him get some payback! Plus: The trio learn that the super-villain known as Crux might be a kindred spirit after all! And the murderous Suzie Shu waits in the wings for her revenge!

This one is the BIG spoiler although I think it's misleading. Why? While Essence would be a logical person even the All Caste said it was The Untitled. While talking about The Untitled no one, not the ghost of one of it's victims, not the witness S'aru that let it into the Chamber of All, not even Jason himself has EVER referred to The Untitled as a being, he, she, thing, or they. Jason even hinted that it could be something intangible. This doesn't mean that she killed them just that she set it up so Jason would deal with the All Caste personally. Suzie Su? Jason killed Suzie in #2 so the revenge must be the father she mentioned. Despite fan complaints no, Jason is NOT aiming for Essence crotch on the cover. That is above the area he's shooting at. Honesty some of these complaints really are ridiculous

  1. You know... I don't mind Booster's new outfit TOO much, but I do miss...his shiny gold pants. It's just not the same.

Boy, the JLI sure does like to lie around a lot.

And yes...John has got the WORST luck of any Green Lantern. It's as though since he isn't quite as...flamboyant as the other three, the writers have to pile on the tragedy instead.

  2. I'm getting used to his outfit but the Jurgens designs were always superior to the rest. Only the Supernova suit and his IC/52 outfits rival them.

Must be why the U.N. wants new members. ;)

I guess it's better than having John get hit in the head every five minutes cough*Hal*cough. Johns' always been the most solider like to me so it fits.

  3. It's a bit of a shame that more ridiculous things don't happen to John. He doesn't get hit in the head, or fly with his legs apart, or be swallowed by dogs, or any of the other insane stuff that Hal and Guy go through. He's Just So Serious All The Time!

Maybe if he got to let his hair down once in a while, he'd feel better, and stop blowing up planets and stuff.

  4. One of the titles that my brother picked up that I had no intention on reading was Teen Titans and I absolutely love it. I can not wait to read this. If he wasn't getting it I would have to. I can not wait to see where this goes.

BTW, I have been MIA a bit with work. Loved some of the reviews...especially Death in the Family. I had wished I had time to comment on it awhile ago.
