Solicits for June

More flip flopping on Lobos' character design, the monthly dose of GL bondage and something that actually surprised me.

Lex Luthor continues his acclimation to his life as a one of the world's greatest heroes as they search for the mysterious power threatening to unravel our world. But are his sights really set on the Dark Knight? And are the Dark Knight's set on him?Plus, someone else is targeting Luthor and his new allies – a man who believes himself Luthor’s superior in every way...and maybe he is! Here comes The Chief and his treacherous Doom Patrol to The New 52
!

The concept of Batman and Lex Luthor becoming rivals is the second best idea for a new enemy for Lex. The best being Booster Gold. I might buy a issue of JL if it's nothing but Bruce and Lex being jerks to each other. It's one of the rare occasions that I want Batman to be a jerk.

It’s all out battle issue as Hawkman has a showdown with Lobo as the League is teleported to Rann to face the shape-changing alien called Byth! This looks like a job for Supergirl!

What is it with random Lobo? He's either the way he was before the relaunch or this skinny version.

SECRET ORIGINS #3
Written by ROBERT VENDITTI, MARC ANDREYKO and SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by MARTIN COCOLLO, TREVOR MCCARTHY and TYLER KIRKHAM
Cover by LEE BERMEJO
On sale JUNE 25 • 48 pg, FC, $4.99 US • RATED T
Green Lantern takes center stage this month in a tale by Robert Venditti and Martin Cocollo! And don’t miss the origin of Batwoman by Jeremy Haun and Trevor McCarthy, and Red Robin’s origin, courtesy of Scott Lobdell and Tyler Kirkham!

When this solicit came up before the rest of the June listings the tagline for the link was something about the mystery of who was getting their origins told this month. I saw the writers names first and wondered if Scott Lobdell was doing the Outlaws. He's writing Starfires' origin in #2, maybe he'd finally get Arsenals' done or tell a more bat related Red Hood origin. Then I saw he was doing Red Robin and had a good long laugh. I didn't mind his telling of Tim Drake becoming a hero in Teen Titans #0 but I know others hated it. I don't think their pleased with this news. Still, while I'm willing to get #2 for a better idea of Starfires' background I won't get this one. Didn't we get most of this in #0 month anyway?

GREEN LANTERN #32

On sale JUNE 4 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T

“UPRISING!” part 3! In the midst of a bloody interstellar revolution against the Green Lantern Corps, the Durlans make a move to claim the ultimate position of power for themselves! But the battered Corps' only hope is intel possessed by a sworn enemy, Nol-Anj!

Only Hal would "accidently" rope himself to a woman with barbed wire. I say "accidently" because Hals' been into some weird stuff.

BATWOMAN #32
Written by MARC ANDREYKO
Art by JEREMY HAUN
Cover by RAFAEL ALBUQUERQUE
DC Collectibles Bombshells variant cover by ANT LUCIA
On sale JUNE 18 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for more information.
At last, Nocturna makes her presence in The New 52 known! And Batwoman must face her past when her former girlfriend from West Point comes to town!

I'm curious what their going to do with Nocturna since previous plans on BTAS wanted to make her a vampire. She looks like one here which is a logical leap to make for a reboot. I wonder if she tried to adopt Jason in this timeline.

WONDER WOMAN #32
Written by BRIAN AZZARELLO
Art by GORAN SUDZUKA
Cover by CLIFF CHIANG
DC Collectibles Bombshells variant cover by ANT LUCIA
On sale JUNE 18 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for more information.
The casualties are mounting as Wonder Woman’s divine family tears itself apart – and Diana prepares to make everyone feel her power as the God of War!

This may be the most badass Diana ever, protecting the innocent while beating on her enemies.

“The Hunt for Robin” concludes! Batman has caught up to Ra’s al Ghul, and the battle for the bodies of Talia and Damian begins!

If nothing else at least Ra's seems to have his manic glee back.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #32

DC Collectibles Bombshells variant cover by ANT LUCIA

After stopping a nuclear explosion, Red Hood and the Outlaws find themselves in the crosshairs of S.H.A.D.E.!

I did roll my eyes at the fact Kori is posing on the car since that's such a cliché but it's Benes. By his standards this is extremely tame even with the boys suggestively holding their weapons. Rocafort could do cheesecake too but at least he made some attractive guys (who at times looked better than the women.) I've heard that this might be a misprint with Lobdell. I'm not sure what's true since I thought Pfeifer implied he was doing more than just 3 issues. The S.H.A.D.E. plot does seem to be following up on something from his 3-parter. Perhaps this is just a one shot? While I'm willing to give Pfeifer a shot I would be thrilled if Lobdell brought this series back to the way it used to be before the memory loss plot.

As for the Bombshells variants I don't see what the big deal is. What I've seen of that line has been fun, tasteful and retro. If variants are your thing then why not? Would I like to see some beefcake variants? Sure why not? No seriously, why not? It would be fun.

  1. You really just cannot have enough Green Lantern bondage.

  2. It's pretty much a given with at least one book a month.
