Because something seems to be seriously wrong.
SPOILERS AHEAD for RHATO #16
Jason has mentioned being in Arkham a few times although it seems weird since the reason for him being there isn't canon anymore. Nevertheless Jason does not like the place and has said how horrible it was in passing.
In the first arc of the current volume Jason calms Bizarro down by using a method he learned from Harley Quinn when she was a doctor referring to her by her proper name and title. This confused me because I recalled a panel of her fighting Dick Grayson when he was Robin. If she was then why would Arkham rehire her and assign anyone to her? Still Jason sounded respectful when he mentioned it.
So this issue has Artemis tied up in a session with Harley who she naturally finds tiresome. Harley is suppose to get information out of Artemis and when talking doesn't work she threatens to use "a less subtle way" I.E. a hammer. This isn't a problem for Artemis as she can summon her axe and defeats Harley off panel. But for some reason Jason is shocked that Artemis took on Harley and is fine. This seems absurd given Artemis' skill level. When asked why he thought she'd have trouble this is how he replies:
Jason Todd: I...had a few sessions with her.
The hesitant way he says it and doesn't clarify his meaning is worrisome. Were the 'sessions' like the one Artemis came from where Harley became violent when she didn't get information? Was it like the situation in Arkham Knight where she tortured him? Jason geniunely seems concerned for Artemis' well being.
Harley doesn't interact with Jason although she draws him with hearts and flowers. The only time their on panel together has Artemis between them and then Jason far ahead in the snow. Harley has also been depicted as Joker's accomplice to what happened to Tim Drake in Batman Beyond flashback. I have to say it's concerning and the first time I've been interested in anything related to Harley in a while. Jason doesn't have good luck with clowns and I have to wonder if this will be triggering like Qurac.

In several universes she is part of what happen to Jason including the movie verse and the arkham knight one so is posible that she was part of the situation or she could have been abusive since she was a doctor, both scenarios would explain Jason's reaction, no matter how obviuos it is that Artemis can take her the trauma still would make him fear for her
ReplyDeleteI'm saying that I can't see him having this reaction unless Harley did something horrible because Jason knows Artemis can handle herself. I've read comments with people not noticing this and thinking it was just harmless banter.
