New Solicits (Mainly bat books) for October

I also guess the direction of a couple of storylines.

Green Lantern Annual #2

This cover is a lot of fun. John and Guy look like their dancing or puppets on a string. Hal's the funniest because it looks like he was trying to get the spotlight and then realized "oh crap I'm in his direct path!" I mean that's very Hal right? Everyone else has the sense to move and almost too late it occurs to him that he should move.

Nightwing Annual #1

Let's just hope this goes better than the last Nightwing Annual with Barbara. Otherwise known as the one with Dick cheating on Kori with Barbara the night before their wedding then giving Babs the invite in the morning. That was the worst offender of writers trying to force Dick and Babs together. I haven't been a fan of the pairing since Kori was usually treated like crap. As far as Barbara quitting this should have happened a long time ago. Either get her out of the uniform or make her a stronger character. Every time I look through her book she's crying or complaining about her life.

Teen Titans Annual #1

The other "Superboy" was already revealed but I'm wondering if this is a new Superboy Prime type of deal. I haven't read the title since DOTF so I'm not sure about anything else going on in it.

Jason Todd now leads the League of Assassins against the Untitled and his former teammates. But the true power is within the Lazarus Pit in the City of Assassins. What will it unleash?

...I REALLY hope this is just on the cover because that outfit is so stupid my gut reaction was to drop this title. Jason looks like he stole Doctor Stranges' cape, it so ridiculous and not in an awesome way. Yeah I know, "covers lie." Sometimes they do sometimes they don't but even if I hate the Al Ghul cape I really wanted this storyline to end. Who wants to bet this "Lazarus Pit" is connected to the pool of evil the Untitled were created from? I'm calling it now, that's why the Al Ghuls were connected to the All Caste. Of course the last time they had something "unleashed" from the Lazarus Pit was at the end of Cass' run when Nora Frieze turned into a lava creature that brought zombie to life. I rather have that than this.

Forever Evil #2

Be honest, who's surprised? Actually I wonder if this isn't another bad guy dressing up as him but Batman himself. What if he was taken over and didn't realize it? Remember when someone attacked Jason and Alfred to get to Batmans' secret stash? Who else would be able to bypass the system via retina scanner no less? Plus he gave Superman a case to take him down if he went rogue. I think that's more than a simple bromance moment--it was a set up. Plus it might actually make his behavior in Batman and Robin redeemable. Well somewhat, because that was too over the top.

BATMAN AND TWO-FACE #24
Written by PETER J. TOMASI
Art and cover by PATRICK GLEASON and MICK GRAY
On sale OCTOBER 16 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
“The Big Burn” part one of five! Two-Face’s first epic in The New 52 sees Batman unraveling the mysterious connections between Harvey Dent’s life and the origin of Carrie Kelley!

Yeah I have no real interest in this series after this arc but I wonder if this will be a connection like Willis Todd working for Two-Face.

BATWOMAN #24
Written by J.H. WILLIAMS III and W. HADEN BLACKMAN
Art by TREVOR McCARTHY
Cover by J.H. WILLIAMS III
1:25 B&W Variant cover by J.H. WILLIAMS III
On sale OCTOBER 16 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+
The battle between Batwoman and Batman begins here—it’s all been leading to this!

I'm glad I decided to get this arc after I dropped BOP. Kate already kicked Barbaras' ass and no one deserves a beat down more than Bruce right now.

Batwing #24

Their not even trying to hide the fact this is ripping off of Batman Beyond.

  1. Heh. Your insight into Hal is fabulous. And yes, that Nightwing annual with him sleeping with Babs was just...awful. And yes again, I actually dropped Batgirl again, even though I love Gail Simone, because Barbara is just so crabby and whiny and NOT Oracle.

Batman being evil, or pretending to be evil? I know that he's supposed to be able to plan for everything, but how the heck would he even know he's supposed to plan for this?

God, I want my continuity back.

  2. Really the GL covers say it all. Everyone else was basically like "you want the spotlight then it's yours Jordan." One good thing about not having the old continuity is that none of the bad Nightwing stuff happened. Like him cheating or being raped. Yeah I think Misfit at her worst could teach Barbara a thing or two. Cass' book was about her overcoming her past, having assassins as parents and staying hopeful in the bleak city of Gotham. It was still WAY more upbeat then this Batgirl.

I'm not sure, when I wrote that I thought he might suspect something's off about himself and try to do something. Although it makes the treatment of Alfred and Jason terrible.
