Solicits for September 2018

Not that many to get this month and a whole lot of rumors floating around online.

Heroes in Crisis #1

The art is beautiful but King has already shown no understanding of Skeets, Booster or the Time Masters premise. I'm not looking forward to a story where he's a murder suspect and people are being slaughtered. Sure King has had false solicits before but that doesn't take away how he writes characters. I've seen a lot of rumors on what will happen and I'm curious if one death is true. If so then King really has no originality as he's beating on a dead horse that's even more nonsensical now.

WONDER WOMAN #54
written by STEVE ORLANDO
art by RAUL ALLEN
cover by DAVID YARDIN
variant cover by JENNY FRISON
Diana’s model U.N. project goes up in flames when she tries to intervene and stop the exiled Bana-Mighdall Amazons from invading the nation of Qurac under false pretenses. She clashes with Artemis, who wants her exiled sisters to go to war, despite the fact that the expat Amazons are being manipulated…by none other than the deadly Rustam, Quraci seditionist and rebel leader! Now it’s up to Wonder Woman to lasso this runaway war train before it can get up to speed—and it’s about to pull out of the station.

I'm glad the location of the Bana-Mighdall is still near Qurac. However I'm worried that Lobdell's other plots might be ignored. The next solicit sounds like their being controlled but that makes me wonder about the refugees.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #26
written by SCOTT LOBDELL
art and cover by PETE WOODS
variant cover by YASMINE PUTRI
Jason Todd’s about to take this vigilante game to a whole new level. His partners, Bizarro and Artemis? Gone! His mentor, Batman? Out! His base of operations, Gotham City? Abandoned. Cast out and alone, Red Hood embarks on a bold, brutal new mission, with a new costume, new weapons and a new plan to punish evildoers across the DCU. Plus, Pete Woods (JUSTICE LEAGUE) joins writer Scott Lobdell as this new era begins!

I'll have to do a write up about new designs at some point. Pete Wood looked familiar and I do recognize him from his previous work. He did the art for Amazons Attack.

This is another one I've seen rumors about although these were conflicting with whether or not Jason is separating for good or DC is testing the audience. I've never personally liked a long term "Punisher" like Red Hood. It encourages writers to do horrendous portrayals of him, stereotypes, biases and it is extremely limiting. I adore his well written appearances with his family and friends.

That said I trust Lobdell far more than any other bat writer especially with this plot.

I'm not sure why a crowbar is a weapon of choice other than a screw you to Bruce. Sadly it looks like Roy's visit doesn't do much to help Jason. I'm very curious about Artemis and Bizarro. I don't want them to leave.
