FUTURES END #1, 2, 3, 4
So it involves time travel, a new 52 version of Batman Beyond, Grifter, Firestorm, potentially a JL member dying (time travel so not such a big deal) and Red Robin pops up. Sounds like Tim will be getting far more attention than he did before these weekly series. As for getting this, well nothing has interested me enough get it. I'm only vaguely aware of what it's about and it doesn't sound much different than past OMAC/time travel stories Booster did. Only no Booster so that's a big minus.
Batman Eternal #5, 6, 7, 8
Snyder managed to get me intrigued with Batman #28 but I still don't feel the need to collect the series as it comes out. If I do get it then it'll be in trade.
JUSTICE LEAGUE #31
After years of fans wanting a female Green Lantern we get a female Power Ring. It's disappointing but I still can't help but admire Johns' sneakiness.

The only thing that makes me want to get this is the Starfire origin. I liked what Lobdell did in RHATO by changing her history with her sister and adding her time on her own spaceship. But $4.99 for that plus Aquamans' origin and another retelling of Batman?

This plot has been dragging too long. Either keep Damian dead or say he never died in the first place. Say it was a clone that died. Retreading the dead Robin plot is dull and outside this series no one seems to care anymore. Frank should beat Bats up for the crappy treatment he got last time. Someone should hold him accountable for his actions.

REALLY?! DC can't even decide what Lobos' deal is and another writer has to use the character? I never cared for him myself, Lobo can be amusing at times but he's not someone I go out of my way to read about.

I'm not getting it but I notice the whole arc isn't even collected together. There's 3 more issues then the one shot issue which may be the aftermath and the Year Zero issue. But what I find really funny about this is the fact Hugo Strange is on the cover and he's barely in the whole thing. He never even meets Jason and barely sees Kori.

Speaking of odd choices for trades this is $24.99 for 5 issues, for a deluxe edition people weren't clamoring for? In the solicit it says it takes place 15 years from now...so Damian was Robin when he was 25 before taking up the cowl? Maybe it's best if the character stayed dead instead of ending up like he like this, talking to a cat he thinks is Alfred.

From the sound of it Power Girl and Huntress have done nothing of note since I dropped their book so maybe they should go home. At least that way we'd get a chance to get Helena B. back as Huntress for the main 'verse. Geoff Johns already made connections to her family in JL so there is hope despite her dying off panel in the first issue of WF. But I think the ladies aren't staying in Earth 2. I don't know why they'd return since there's nothing for them on the main Earth.

All I can think of, is that with a new horrible future already here...and it is ALWAYS a horrible future...maybe DC ha come to its senses and we will be getting the REAL DC Universe back...in another year or so.
ReplyDeleteI really don't think that's happening. Marvel still hasn't given us back the Spider-Marriage and I think there's less chance of redoing the whole DCU again.
ReplyDeleteBatman Beyond wasn't so bad as far as futures go, well for everyone except Bruce. I'd like to see the characters happy then something big goes down that threatens the peace.
