July Solicits AND September Solicits

Too bad we don't have covers for September but at least we have an idea.

GRAYSON #1 Written by TIM SEELEY
Art by MIKEL JANIN
Cover by ANDREW ROBINSON
BATMAN 75 variant cover
Blank variant cover
1:100 Variant cover by PHIL JIMENEZ
On sale JULY 2 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
Retailers: This issue will ship with four covers. Please see the order form for more information.
Dick Grayson. Former sidekick. Former Super Hero. Former dead man. And now...agent of Spyral?!
A thrilling new chapter of Dick Grayson’s life begins in this new, ongoing series. It’s a super-spy thriller that will shock you and prove one thing: You might think you know Nightwing – but you don’t know Dick.

I prefer the Janin cover over the Robinson version, there's more action and Dick looks younger. BTW Congrats on whoever did this solicit because the last line is priceless.

SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #10 Written by CHARLES SOULE
Art by TONY S. DANIEL and MATT BANNING
Cover by TONY S. DANIEL
BATMAN 75 variant cover
On sale JULY 9 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T
Combo pack edition: $4.99 US
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.
Twelfth level intellect Lois Lane uses all her new Psi Power against the God of War, Diana, in the ultimate showdown! And Superman must go up against the new Cyborg Superman as an invading armada arrives in space!
This issue is also offered as a combo pack edition with a redemption code for a digital download of this issue.

Lois vs. Diana? I'm going to guess this isn't going to end well. Even if I was getting this series I'd feel uneasy about a story where Wonder Woman fights the woman who's the love of Clarks' life in nearly every depiction.

RED LANTERNS #33 Written by CHARLES SOULE
Art by ALESSANDRO VITTI
Cover by MIGUEL SEPULVEDA
On sale JULY 23 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T+
“Atrocities” kicks into gear – the epic that the last year of RED LANTERNS has been building to all along! It’s open war between Atrocitus and Guy Gardner – and there’s a powerful squadron of Red Lanterns on each side! But Guy Gardner could never have imagined what Atrocitus has been planning all this time… And he couldn’t imagine that one of his closest friends would refuse to stand by his side!

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's Hal that refuses to stand by his side. Which shouldn't be a surprise, Guy always seems to get screwed because of Hal.

BIRDS OF PREY #33 Written by CHRISTY MARX
Art by ROBSON ROCHA
Cover by JORGE MOLINA
On sale JULY 9 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
It’s here! Black Canary vs. Amanda Waller! Will the former Team 7 teammates find salvation together – or destruction?

This might be a big deal to those that have been following BOP, Team 7 and Suicide Squad...but for me the most distracting thing is the cover. Look at the size of Dinahs' head. The portions are wonky and WTF is with Wallers' stance? That's not how you fight, that's how you get you leg broken. If she had a gun at least she wouldn't look that dumb.

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #33 Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Art by R.B. SILVA
Cover by ED BENES
On sale JULY 16 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
As more of Starfire’s life after her captivity as a slave is revealed, Red Hood and Arsenal stand between their alien teammate and one of the most wanted men in the galaxy.

ANOTHER artist? This book has been cursed with fill ins ever since Rocafort left. Some were okay (Silva is pretty solid) but this series needs a strong ongoing artist. Speaking of the art what is with Jasons' swords being his new default weapon of choice? The guns have kind of faded out for no reason and no one's really commenting on this in the books he's appeared in. I'm not sure what this shocking story with Kori is that Harris told Lobdell about. It could be really bad and fact that their exploring her life as a slave has me a little worried. Also...more space stuff? Also, you mean to tell me Jasons' the only Robin that has a title that won't have a 75th anniversary cover? Whatever DC.

GRAYSON: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 3
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
Branded a traitor, Dick Grayson has become the most powerful hero in the newly resurgent and dominant Mother Russia – and now, he must battle the Beast from the East in one final struggle for supremacy!

There has been a lot of comparing Dicks' turn to secret agent with Bucky Barnes and so I found this pretty funny.

BOOSTER GOLD: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 24
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
Trapped out of time on a world that defies reason, Booster Gold struggles to escape the fate that has held him and so many forgotten heroes captive!

BOOSTER! I heard about this but it's still awesome to see! You know I'll get this even if the phrase "forgotten heroes" makes me wince. Sorry but Cave Carson has yet to impress me. Of course that also means potentially having Rip Hunter and Animal Man! Or maybe some new FH?

TEEN TITANS: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 17
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
With the Teen Titans dead, a new group of young heroes seek justice in the future DC Universe!

Another one that made me laugh but for more morbid reasons. Even in the new continuity the Teen Titans can't escape their death curse. Plus this means all the Robins will have died in this canon at some point.

AQUAMAN: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 24
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
Mera has claimed the throne of Atlantis for herself – and she’s sentenced her unfaithful husband, Aquaman, to death!

On the one hand Arthur is once again a cheating jackass but on the other Mera isn't taking that crap and takes the throne. That actually sounds pretty amazing.

WORLDS’ FINEST: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 10
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
Power Girl must break into Cadmus Island to free Huntress – but she ends up a prisoner herself!

So pretty much the same book it's been since the start.

BATMAN: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 10
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
It’s five years later and Bruce Wayne is using dangerous science to help him continue his war on crime. What is it, and what forced Bruce to resort to such extremes?

The death of his sixth sidekick? Seriously the JLA should have had a intervention by now.

BATGIRL: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 10
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
It’s five years later, and Barbara Gordon has become BĂȘte Noire – a.k.a. The Black Beast! Part Batman and part Bane, she leads a squad of female agents through the Gotham Underground!

This reads like straight up crack which might be interesting to read if it's over the top bad. Otherwise no thanks.

BIRDS OF PREY: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 10
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
Free of Ra’s al Ghul’s control at last, Black Canary claims her rightful place as the head of the League of Assassins!

First Bruce was offered the heir spot, then Cass, Tim, Damian, last it was Jason and now Dinah. Is this just being decided randomly now?

RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS: FUTURES END #1
Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 17
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
Red Hood rides solo in the future as he reveals hints to how the Outlaws and his partners Starfire and Arsenal parted ways and how that lead to Jason Todd’s new mission of retribution and brutal justice.

I hoping this was better than the last two events. Like the rest of these I'm hoping they have little to do with the OMAC storyline. Yes, I actually want these tie ins to have little to do with the event their tying into.

GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS: FUTURES END #1 Advance solicit • On sale SEPTEMBER 17
32 pg, FC • RATED T
3-D Motion Edition: $3.99 US
2-D Standard Edition: $2.99 US
Orders due May 29 • Not offered on FOC
The power of the white lantern power has brought Kyle to the brink of death! Now, he must decide whether to release that power into the universe, or find another unsuspecting soul to take it on.

In other words: will Kyle go out like a hero or perform his own act of superdickery much like the Power Ring origins.

  1. Booster Gold does sound interesting! And there is something seriously wrong with Dinah and Amanda Waller's legs and stances. Sheesh!

I'm wondering if it is going to be Hal betraying Guy, because they really aren't the best of friends. I hope it's not Kyle!

  2. The funny thing is that other than Booster himself the most interesting thing about the solicit is that it sounds different from the others. The BC/Wall fight just feels off. Waller is in a fan service pose while Dinahs' big head and short looking leg go for a more action pose. It doesn't mesh well.

If the cover is to be believed it's supposed to be a GL. I dunno I kind of thought Guy would assume Hal would at least have his back. I did like Guys' relationship with Kyle in GLC. Which I guess is the reason I'm dragging my feet on getting newer trades. I don't know if I'll like the shake ups.
