December Solicts

I wish there was more holidays specials. But other than Harley Quinn's special there's only one other book that brings the cheer. BTW DC can we get some variants on RHATO? It's the only bat book to get overlooked. It only had the bombshells variant.

Three more stars of the DC Universe shine as their origin stories are revealed! Don’t miss the DC Comics – The New 52 origins of Grayson by Tim Seeley, Tom King and Stephen Mooney; Animal Man by Jeff Lemire and Travel Foreman; and Katana by Ann Nocenti Cliff Richards!

Dick Grayson gets ANOTHER origin issue? It's not like Grayson started along time ago. Weird but whatever. Are we going to get origin issues for teams too?

BATGIRL #37

1:25 Variant cover by BENGAL
On sale DECEMBER 10 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
The Batgirl of Burnside is the name on everyone’s lips…but she sure is acting strange since she took up residence in Gotham City’s outer borough! Dangerous joyrides? Photo ops? Sequins? Either Barbara Gordon’s gone off the deep end – or there’s a doppelganger under that cowl!

Every solicit I read from this book sounds more and more like it's doing a crossover with Project Runway. Make it work people.

GRAYSON ANNUAL #1

Art by STEPHEN MOONEY
Cover by MIKEL JANIN
On sale DECEMBER 24 • 48 pg, FC, $4.99 US • RATED T
At last – it’s the secret origin of Helena Bertinelli!

Gah, I want to quit you but you keep bringing me back. I must see Helena's new origin. Wait, shouldn't THAT be in Secret Origins and not Dick? Should I wait until this shows up there? Probably won't.

RISES: ALPHA #1

It all ends here! Batman’s been to the hells of Apokalips and back just to retrieve his son’s body. But what has he brought back with him? And who is the new Robin?

Does anyone really believe Damian's staying dead or we're getting a new Robin? It'd be nice to be surprised but I doubt they'd be dragging this out just to keep him buried.

Catwoman & Annual: I wonder if the new Catwoman stories will be fun. I might wait to see if this sounds like something I'll like. Oh yeah Black Mask is back, let's hope he doesn't torment Selina's sister again or meet up with Stephanie. Learn your lesson DC. Really the only time I liked him was in UTH and half of the joy there was watching Jason troll him.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #37: Things take a turn as we FINALLY get the reason for Ollie and Roy splitting up. Tynion kind of played with this but revealed little. This was ironically printed in the last annual as we'll getting another this year. But wow this arc just feels like it's going to get majorly depressing.

Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2: I'm guessing the annual will make up for the downer arc by being a fun holiday special. It's funny because not too long ago I was wondering if we'd get annuals this year and before that I wondered if we'd get any holiday specials. Too bad they missed out on Halloween and an awkward bat family Thanksgiving. I like how the cover has Jason holding a candy cane like a gun and Roy craving a bazooka.

Showcase Presents: Blue Beetle: The fact that their releasing this makes me wonder if something big will be happening with the character. ( No I don't consider JL3000 to be it especially since it's not part of the new 52.)

Earth 2 also has Dick and Barbara married with a son. Not sure if it will matter since the world will apparently end. Speaking of it mentions things might look bad for Helena Wayne. There's also Gotham Academy but nothing much to mention until I read it.
