I guess February is the big "next wave" for Rebirth?
One potential spoiler for RHATO ahead in the solicit.

I love how these Justive League VS. Suicide Squad solicits look like Mad Lips. Extra points to the person with the funniest one.
BATGIRL #7
Written by HOPE LARSON
Art and cover by CHRISTIAN WILDGOOSE
Variant cover by FRANCIS MANAPUL
“Son of Penguin” part one! Babs is back in Burnside! But everything’s…different—friends, school, even Burnside itself. Batgirl must determine her next steps when she realizes that the shady new tech mogul moving into her neighborhood is none other than the estranged son of the Penguin!
On sale JANUARY 25 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
I've made no secret that I haven't enjoyed much if anything about the new Barbara Gordon from New 52 onward and this is a big part of it. I haven't read the series so I might be wrong (although I've been told my impression is close) but this sounds very juvenile. You have books where the Robins are on teams making a difference and undercover then we have Babs in what sounds like a young romance novel. Sadly I've heard BOP isn't great but I don't know why. Penguin has a son? Really?

Variant cover by GARY FRANK
“MEN OF STEEL” part five! The deadly, intergalactic Remnants loom over Superman as he fights to protect Lex Luthor, but can the Man of Steel prove his greatest adversary deserves a fair trial, or will Superman be forced to become judge, jury and executioner?
On sale JANUARY 11 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
I think Clark already decided against the fair trial based on the cover although the next solicit spoils this anyway. I just love love how this could easily be used for a Superdickery entry with the right captions.
Batwoman Rebirth
It focuses on plots I haven't read and have no inclination to read. Nothing against Bennett but I've been seriously burnt by Tynion more than once. I think he's just going to be around at the start but I think I'll pass on this one. I thought this was coming out in February though.
TEEN TITANS #4
Written by BENJAMIN PERCY
Art by KHOI PHAM and MARK MORALES
Cover by JONBOY MEYERS
Variant cover by CHRIS BURNHAM
“Damian Knows Best” part four! Robin makes a deal with Ra’s al Ghul—a deal that will be settled in a trial by combat! If Damian wins, the Teen Titans will be spared, but he must rejoin the League of Assassins for good. And if he loses…everyone dies!
On sale JANUARY 25 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
What ever happened to the Ra's Al Ghul that cared about his family? This is more "honorable" than he's been since Morrison but I miss the depth he used to have. Also...why isn't Bruce watching his kid?! He breathed down his first three Robins necks and now he doesn't seem to care where Damian is?

“BETTER TOGETHER” part five! Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman must battle for their lives against their greatest foes in an arena of their own making! And the fight won’t be done until they confront each other in this deadly match. The mastermind behind this attack has revealed himself at last: Mongul is back!
On sale JANUARY 18 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
I love the cover having Poison Ivy with the Black Mercy. That feels like it sound have been done sooner. Mongul huh? Is "For the Man that Has Everything" canon-ish again?

This epic team-up is brought to you by writers Marc Andreyko (WONDER WOMAN ’77) and Jeff Parker (BATMAN ’66), with fantastic artists David Hahn and Karl Kesel (BATMAN ’66 Meets the Man from U.N.C.L.E.). It’s a time- and space-spanning adventure unlike anything you’ve seen before!

Another idea that seems like it should have been done before.
THE ODYSSEY OF THE AMAZONS #1
Written by KEVIN GREVIOUX
Art and cover by RYAN BENJAMIN
Variant cover by YASMINE PUTRI
Don’t miss the start of this new miniseries set in the world of Wonder Woman from writer/actor Kevin Grevioux (New Warriors, Underworld). Years before the birth of Princess Diana, a group of Amazons set out on a globe-spanning quest to find others of their kind, encountering legendary creatures and beings along the way. But their journey soon turns into a rescue mission as two of their own are captured by the legendary Storm Giants of Norse mythology. It’s up to their leader, the stalwart Hessia, to keep them together through the many trials that lie ahead.
On sale JANUARY 18 • 32 pg, FC, 1 of 6, $3.99 US • RATED T
I want more information on this but for now this one is firmly in the "yes" column despite it being more than I like to pay for issues of mini series/ongoing comics.
RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #6

“Dark Trinity” conclusion! Black Mask and Red Hood go toe-to-toe beneath One Police Plaza, while above them Bizarro and Artemis clash in a battle of titanic proportion! The finale to “Dark Trinity” is here—don’t miss it!
On sale JANUARY 11 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
The cover is incredible. It took me a second to get it because I couldn't tell what Bizarro was holding. Jason and them are doing a team exercise of stealing Batman's tires. Hell get Bizarro to take the car at this rate. I love this cover so much, Scalera will have to work hard to top it. As for the solicit I wished it didn't spoil the fact Black Mask either knows or will know where the Red Hood bunker is.

Okay, the tire-napping just cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteI think it's my favorite cover of the year. Bizarro's expression really sells the "oops" moment.
