Spoilers for Flashpoint #5 have surfaced. A good twist? Sure but it makes me face palm the stupidity involved. A pretty big Spoiler under the cut.
For everybody saying Booster and Rip didn't do their job here's the reason why they couldn't. Hal and Superman might have been dumb to ignore Rips' warning to do whatever they want but Barry? He knew damn well not to mess with something like this. And he did it in the most reckless way possible. He doesn't even know everything that happened since he was "dead" so at least it makes sense that he wouldn't be able to reset everything. Even so Barry was iconic because of his sacrifice to save everyone now things get changed for good because he was selfish.
Yeah Booster was too but he learned from it and struggled with the rules. Barry has been in on the time travel knowledge longer and isn't supposed to be as self-involved as Booster has been in the past. Also, Wally has messed with time without causing anything like this. It's how he saved his twins and he did it with skill.
If you like Barry fine, I don't get the appeal, I'm not a Flash fan in general so maybe I' m missing something. But if you bring someone back you have to build them up. I'm not even sure what this is. Maybe the issue will read better in full. But we already know some of the results. Marriages (including Barrys' own) are erased, Clarks' adopted parents are dead, Connor Hawke doesn't exist. So yeah, I can't see Barry Allen the same after this. If Flashpoint became the real reality he would have single handedly and permanently ruined the lives of his friends along with the world.
So...wouldn't this be one of those little "problems" that Rip and Booster are supposed to go time diving and take care of? Like going back and stopping Barry BEFORE he does something stupid?
ReplyDeleteHeck, I'm rather surprised that Rip just doesn't take the Time Running Thingie AWAY from Barry, since he doesn't seem to know what to do with it.
And Rip would SO do something like that.
Oh, and sorry that I haven't posted in a while. Had to get my stupid computer fixed and then, put all my STUFF back on it.
Apparently Barrys' screw up was big enough to mess with the Carter timeline. Jurgens said that Rip didn't exist when Booster was in the Flashpoint world and the only thing that saved Booster was his suit but even that was slowly fading due to the damage he got. This make issue #4 of vol. 2 hilarious by comparison since Barry was telling Wally what a bad example Booster was.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got it fixed. I love hearing your POV on things. :D
