Another Robin War Interview

This sounds like it can go either way. I just don't want the standard "these characters are useless and/or a problem" despite them having a lot of experience. The in fighting can be tiresome and the concept needs to be balanced right to not make any of the good guys look bad.

  1. Seeing Jason, Dick, Tim and Damian being called "Semi-Robins" and "Ol Guard" is really rubbing me the wrong way.

  2. I wasn't thinking of him meaning Damian but rather those that used to be called Robin. I was more concerned about it sounding like they wouldn't get along and needed to learn to work together. If he's talking about those four it's especially worrying because they have worked together before.

  3. I dunno, maybe I'm just jaded but seeing how the recent interviews pretty much say that Robin War is the WAR party guest-starring the actual Robins has tanked my interest on it. I'm only getting the one shots, RH/A and Grayson for sure. IF the series turns out to be good I'll be picking up the rest of the books.

  4. I already got preordered and I can't cancel at this point. So I'm stuck getting everything except TT and Gotham Academy although I'll get GA at some later date. I'm hoping it's good because like you I'm a bit more cautious after other interviews. Although past BaRE interviews I heard sounded worse.

  5. The biggest point of contention for me is, why I should root and care for the WAR kids? They haven't done anything really helpful for the city and Alfred is raving lunatic that only spouts non sense.

  6. I heard a theory online based on them wanting to make Duke Robin without him getting the hate for replacing Damian. Everything else apparently snowballing from there.

As much as I love Damian--especially after Gleason took over--sometimes I wish they just made Duke Robin instead of bringing Damian back. Damians' barely acknowledged in other books and DC has used the dead/back from the dead plot too many times with the bat family.

I think the WAR crew will basically be accepted which will depend greatly on the writing. I can understand them training the kids because they know their likely do this without their blessing. It's far more responsible than Alfred just giving them gear and expecting them to perform like the official Robins. But the idea is still bad because these kids have a target on their back now that people like Joker will take advantage of.

And yes, Alfred needs a reality check. He's acting worse than Bruce normally does.
