I'm not going to lie, I prefer the original cover before they changed it around. The other version made Jason look more wounded while this makes him more vicious. The first worked better with the idea of him finding trouble in what appeared to be a small Pleasantville type of town.

Will Johns be able to pull it off?

I've been thinking about the Three Jokers mini series for awhile, ever since it was first announced and trying to think how I feel about it. Granted there's only so much you can judge a book if you haven't read it yet but still there's a lot to consider.

The NEW Red Hood Costume

From the Three Jokers story. It looks pretty Robin like. I don't know, the "R" on his belt is kinda cheesy for Jason. It feels like it's leaning too much towards the Robin look.

What did the heroes do wrong this time?

HIC is supposed to be the spiritual successor to IC and will talk about secrets in the superhero community. So what did the Sanctuary, or rather the Trinity, do?

Besides providing an actual safe place for the patients. The message the murder(s) left seem to indicate something is viewed unfavorably. Either the patients or the center it's self. I'm thinking that we'll either get a former patient that returned or a loved one like Jean Loring. I'm not thrilled with either scenario.

I heard King recently said something about Jason only loving himself (which is the furthest thing from the truth) and I think I have a theory why.

Only the first issue of HIC has been released at this point but I just have so many questions. How can anyone learn about Sanctuary in the first place since not even some of the big names are familiar with it?

Ollie sure didn't know despite it being around for five years in universe. I looked up what I could to try to see if it was explained and found this. It doesn't answer my question but it might make the Trinity's actions (or at least Batmans') worse.

I was surprised to see the short review they didn't wasn't positive. I just had this impression that they would like it.

Why isn't time travel an option?

I don't think this is a spoiler but everyone seems to want Booster to time travel to save all the characters. If King wants the deaths to stick he has to have a VERY good reason for Booster not doing it. Sure there are reasons in place like solid time but he previously ignored the rules for his Batman arc. So if he's not using the limitations already in place what's the reason?

I've been reading some Roy Harper stories lately. A while back their was a Nightwing issue where Roy and Damian teamed up with him that I read. It was alright there just wasn't much to talk about. I didn't think I'd like this arc because I haven't enjoyed the way this generation of Titans has been handled. But I heard it was one of the best arcs if not the best of this run.

Superman is first then Detective and RHATO is third. I've been noticing it's been selling pretty well on the top selling list ever since the Batman issue.

Should I give Nightwing a try?

I liked how Lobdell wrote Dick when he guest starred last year. I'm not a fan of the injury plot but that was already in the works. This is likely just a fill in but kind of an odd place for it. A huge change happens and the writer leaves? Does this mean Lobdell is keeping the love triangle or can he drop it?

The new storyline continues with Jason going solo while his teammates try find a way home.

Is Ted dead again?

The variant covers for HIC have one depicting Wonder Woman after killing Max Lord. This talks about Ted being in JL history again. I recall someone online claiming "Blue Beetle will be dead...again" when talking about HIC. Which might line up with the Booster stuff since apparently King kept showing Booster witnessing head shots.

Personally I agree with Jurgens that we should move forward and not constantly have Booster grieving. I'll be furious if his story has to do with him still grieving or still trying to save Ted.

What's happening to the bat family?

I've been looking at solicits and such lately. It doesn't sound like Bruce is going to have many of them around.

I'm recalling what we know of her history and drawing a blank for when she realized her actions changed Jason's life.

Theory on why Red Hood's helmets break

I know the real reason is for artistic purposes like showing his emotions or symbolism. But it does remind me of some thing I heard before.

This is a very short idea for why it happens and won't be a big deal. Still it's a way to make sense out of it.

The Faults of Alfred Pennyworth?

Alfred is someone we usually see as flawless compared to the rest of the bat family. But he's not perfect and I wish someone at DC would actually do something with this because the potential is fascinating. I love Alfred I just think he'd benefit from getting more focus on his flaws.

Doomsday Clock is on my list but there's not much to say at this point. I'm happy that Shazam has a title since its been requested for some time. I might get it.

One of the reasons I'm proud of Roy

I think I mentioned this bit in my review but I keep thinking about it when Roy had his big hero moment recently. I remembered reading Batman Plus Arsenal.

It was my introduction to Roy Harper. The comic touched on him being a dad, his flaws and his then loss of his mentor. But I loved how Roy interacted with Batman.

What I'll be reading

Sadly I didn't have anything like a meta planned for today to celebrate Jason's birthday. Iconic that it lands on the same month as the issue where it all goes to hell. I did realize that I haven't done one of these in awhile though.

Updated Wish List

I'm pleased to see Mattel has been filling out the bat family and improving their lines (*1) with their character selection. But there's still some characters that need to be made or remade. This could act as a list for other companies like DCC or Mezco but I don't see them going out of their comfort zones right now.

What I'd like to come from the Deathstroke story

Disregarding the disheartening rumors for a moment I'd like to examine possible positive outcomes from the story. At least the one I think it could have if handled properly.

You know, those events where they try to build up some characters and kill off others?

Weird Thought: Suzie Su's sisters

I was looking at the cover for the Annual and noticed how they all have their own styles and thought the blond was the youngest. Then I started drawing parallels between them and the Robin brothers. I wondered if they were adopted and how Suzie fit in with them. Kind of random but a neat touch if true since Jason will be thinking about his own family woes.

Batman is marrying Catwoman, it's not Bruce and Selina

According to this. What's the point of the marriage then? If it's not legal then their not married and it's easily undone. It says that neither are willing to commit.

Secret Six Vol. 2 Money for Murder Part 1

I got this trade because 1) it has Artemis in it and 2) I could get more content for cheaper when I bought it during a sale rather than the single digital issues. I never read the series before so this was ideal. The Artemis section will be in another review since I'll probably have more to say about it.

Linkara reviewing "The Gift"?

According to a poster on the CBR forum for Booster Gold appreciation Linkara expressed some emotions about this arc on Twitter. My computer freezes when I try to go too far back so I can't confirm this.

For those that don't know Linkara is a online reviewer of a few shows but mostly known for Atop of the Fourth Wall where he reviews bad comics. I haven't watched his reviews for a while (his plot lines weren't always for me) but I would be excited if he reviewed this arc.

Linkara is something of a Booster Gold fan. I'm not sure how big but he did a review on a comic where everyone lost their powers and Blue/Gold acted stupidly and he had a rant about how Booster Gold doesn't act like that. I think he might have ranted to Dan Jurgens in that episode, I know Jurgens showed up. Anyway it would be very satisfying to hear his thoughts.

Short Review: Flash Annual

I'm not a Flash fan per se but sometimes the stories do intrigue me. At first I planned on staying about from the Flash War story despite how compelling it looked because it's said that we'll find out who the better Flash is when it's over. Given all the attention Barry gets it seems inevitable that he'll be the victor. But I saw some scans and decided to check this out. The annual is kind of a set up issue.

I think I'm doing better than I expected with getting back into drawing but I still have lots of frustrations after not doing any art for such a long time. I don't know if I'll post anything (the scanner is too small for a lot of my work anyway) but I've mostly been doing fan art. I'll have to think of some Booster Gold art to do to cheer myself up. Maybe his family hugging him? Something simpler? I'll have to give it some thought.

Issue #22 showed some of Artemis' history and it makes me see the start of the series a little differently. It explains why Jason made such a big impression on her.

Keep it mind it's not confirmed yet although it makes me what to say something. Apparently this looks like a set up by King for his other book.

Lex Luthor and Amazons

I'm not going to do a big piece (for once) but I didn't see anyone talking about this. I thought this was a really neat nod to past canon. Before RHATO had Artemis (Grace) working for him other Amazons did.

Mercy Graves- His most well known employee that used to be an Amazon.
Hope- She worked with Mercy but then things got unpleasant with Lex

I've read a little of their time working together for Lex but I wasn't really a fan of a particular run. I might read up on some later stories though.

Will Jason finally read the letters? What will Artemis say to Lex Luthor? What's it like for Ma Gunn living in a bottle? I'd imagine the last is rather restricting.

I nearly completed my review for issue #22 when I realized there was a lot things I wanted to talk about. I decided to split some of it up.

In RHATO we learned some information about Artemis and see Solitary appear more. What does he want to happen? And who died in the flashback?

The issue where Cassandra Cain "meets" Jason Todd when she goes with Bruce to his grave. This is a review and a look at how (intentionally or not) other books including RHATO connects to it.

The mischaracterized of Booster Gold

King isn't the first writer to get Booster wrong (he's also gotten core Bat characters wrong too) but unfortunately these mistakes have staying power.

I really don't like King 's writing

Why did he have to use Booster? Booster isn't an idiot and even if this turns out to be a different Booster this is who new fans will think the character is.

Ma Gunn: Does she want redemption?

There's not a lot known about her since the character hasn't been touched for years until Scott Lobdell reintroduced her. Still, what we do know thus far is intriguing.

Could Grace Choi be related to Artemis?

It's just a random theory. Artemis now has a last name "Grace" which I thought would be a nice nod if she used a family members name for a surname. The only other reason this came to me is the fact Grace Choi of the Outsiders was revealed to be descendant from the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall. Kinda of stretching it? Yeah but theories are fun.

The DOTF Tie In Edit

Not everybody may know it but originally when Jason faced Joker he did so without a helmet or mask on. This was shown in the original artwork but DC had the mask put on. Well it turns out it was previously creepier just before that scene. Jason came out of the shower with nothing but a towel on to find police. But unlike the finished product he didn't apparently have time to dress when he stole the car. Meaning Joker dressed him...that's waaay creepier.

Breaking Point?

The solicits for RHATO #23 sound like the Outlaws aren't doing so well. When things go bad for the team it usually marks big changes.

Jason Todd potentially being in TT

The live action show that is. I'm of two minds about it. Great if it's casted and written well. Horrible if it's just a "he's the bad Robin" stuff again. I want him to be younger than Dick, noticeably younger like he originally was. Don't make it a nonsensical two year difference especially if Dick is Robin. Don't make them rivals to make Dick look good.

Themes of RHATO: Identity/Belonging

Originally I was going to do a big piece on the themes of the series in the first arc of the second volume. I didn't really feel like it when the arc completed and so the idea fell to the wayside for awhile. But I was thinking about this particular theme and realized it expands for more than a single arc. It's been around for awhile.

Amazons Attack #2

Where a fighter jet is taken down by an arrow. Phillipus and Artemis also show up lacking their usual characterizations. They do state the obvious about this series.

Phillipus: I cannot help but question our queen's judgement.
Artemis: I agree. This war makes increasingly less sense with each passing moment.

I saw this posted when I was browsing for RHATO stuff. Look I love Nightwing but he doesn't need to be hyped up with this BS.

Comic Art

I've been skimming for available art after seeing what Marcio Takara is selling (which includes pages from RHATO #19 "Date Night) but the ones I'd want are sadly too expensive for me. But I have been browsing different sites for art and there are options to be found. I just feel like I need to do more research.

I'm considering a Booster Gold piece at the moment.

Toy Fair: DC Multiverse Mattel

Most of these have been seen before. I like the Lex Lutbor which is unfortunately a build-a-Figure and Wonder Woman. Of the new ones shown I think Beast Boy and Kid Flash look the best. Sadly I'm not too thrilled with the Spoiler and disappointed more figures from the rumor list weren't true.

A while back I recall skimming a message board on Wonder Woman when these two came up. I forgot about it until I read Genesis and remembered people saying they were an item. A lot of character bios mentioned it but it took me awhile to actually figure out where it came from. But even if it came up in canon would it actually fit?

Reading some older comics

I still have a lot of back issues I want to read that aren't available on digital yet but I did find some events to read up on. I also got a great deal on a physical copy of DC One Million Omnibus. I'm really happy to finally be able to read it and that Booster Gold One Million is a part of the collection.

Fan service for the point of fan service?

Yeah fan service was part of Dick Grayson appearances for a long time but it's been extremely blatant to uncomfortable levels since Grayson. I mean take this for example. Doesn't the art and the writing seem at odds with each other? Dick thinks it's lots of fun but he looks horrified.

Rumor about Tomasi taking over DET

If he did I'm not sure if he'd continue the team. He's notably ignored Stephanie and Cass in the past. He can write well but the worst part of his bat runs for me is his take on the Waynes. If he had an interesting enough take I might give it a try. I prefer his writing over Tynion.

I'm not thrilled with him ignoring Cass and Steph. He also ignores Jason to a lesser extent--see "the whole family" for one example--but he mostly did an okay job with him. I still like how he handles other characters like Kents.

I don't get why there's confusion with his name

I've seen a surprising amount of people calling Booster "Jon." That's his middle name not his first name. I've seen more characters calling him Michael than his full name so I'm no sure where this came from. I even recall this happening in a comic and most assuming it was Rip`s real name. Which makes no sense because I don't see him naming his son after his abusive dad.

Why do I bother

I read my digital comics and was eager to see what others thought of the plots.

I made the mistake of going to a certain nonsensical website for possible talk about my favorite comics. One was barely mentioned and the other was mostly ripped apart because of ridiculous reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the book. And if they were paying attention they'd know these things were already mentioned. None of this is new, it's either been in previous issues or been talked about in interviews. I don't even know why any of this is a thing.
