What's Booster Gold 's current canon ?

Is he the new 52 version? The old one? Was he split into two like Lois and Clark? (It doesn't make sense to me unless he was.) I recall Giffin said he considered the Charleston stuff canon for Ted and implying the JLI stuff never happened. That means he doesn't know Booster, right? Is Booster really selfish and if so how does the time travel stuff fit in? I hope Jurgens answers some of this.

My Reading List for 2018 thus far

I really wasn't feeling the solicits for March so I won't be doing my usual write up. A lot of them don't really hype me up like usual.

Shipping Drama

I avoid shows based on how crazy their fans are over shipping. I said it before but it needs to be repeated: I would never have gotten into RWBY if I knew how bad the obsession with pairing up characters was. This should not be something you scream at creators for and in the case of RHATO I think it's especially strange to get upset over it.

Sure Lobdell made Black Mask awesome but as I previously stated I don't think Roman was supposed to be the BM he was writing. Because the character acted differently than Lobdell wrote.

Wednesday is the return of Booster Gold !

I know the preview came out but I want to be entirely surprised when I read it. I decided to get it digitally since I didn't want to wait for the mail. Good thing too since my RHATO order is delayed. I might just get that early too by paying for it instead of waiting for the code. I'm so happy to see Booster again especially the Jurgens art.

What is Booster's destiny?

A storyline that's been unanswered since Millennium.

I'd read a whole book with him doing nothing but hanging out with the Kents.

Does Bruce still have issues with metas?

I remember Bruce being distrustful of some and wanting his kids to be more wary of them. It depended on who wrote him. This "don't trust anyone with powers" mind frame seemed to come up when they were romantically interested in them.

It happened when Kon-El and Cass liked each other. He encouraged Barbara saying that the thing "with the alien" (Kori dating Dick) wouldn't last. I remember he also didn't go to the almost wedding of Dick and Kori. Is Bruce nicer now, at least in this regard?

'Tis the season to be exhausting

I've been fairly busy lately and I still haven't gotten most of the stuff I need to do out of the way. I'm more than aware of Batman Ninja being the first movie--animated or not--to have all four male Robins. The designs aren't what I expected but I'm going to hold off on commenting until I see the movie. I'm just excited to have them together for the first time which immediately makes it far more interesting than the current ones that only use Dick and Damian.

Since my sister and BIL are asking for more back issues I also decided to get the crossover between Superman, TT and Super Sons. I'll give it to them after the event ends. This month I'm sending them all the Batman & Robin and Super Sons issues I currently have.

I did ask my BIL what he thought of the BatCat engagement and he said he couldn't get through the first King arc so he's not going to read anymore. My sister just laughed so I don't think she's interested either.

I FINALLY got it ! Can DC drop the $3.99 cost to add on the digital copy so I can go back to getting this series the day of release on digital? I'd like to support both releases but waiting for the mail as to not waste money on a digital copy since I'm getting it free is a pain.

So very tired

I planned on posting some more stuff but I've been so tired from working the past few days that I haven't done much more than write a few words. I'll probably be tired tomorrow too but I'm going to try to do some shopping this week. I know it's crazy anyway but I want to beat the rush before it gets real bad.

Holiday Shopping started earlier?

Because everyone is shopping like crazy around me lately. The lines are already long every time I go into a store. I wasn't prepared for this.

What's up with GCG ?

It was supposed to come out on Wednesday then today. Now it's moved to tomorrow. The first half of the comic came out last week so the entire comic should be done already. Does this happen a lot with digital first?  This is the first time I've gotten these while they were coming out.

Outlaw Relationships: The Clone and the Amazon

A look into the somewhat odd friendship between Bizarro and Artemis. I'll probably be expanding upon this as the series goes on.

Why go to the effort?

On tumblr someone apparently went to the trouble of finding what seems to be a causally dressed Artemis and Jason kissing by Dexter Soy. I never saw it before nor do I know the story behind it. I'm guessing it was a commission? Yet the ones posting it covered up the actual kiss ? Them and a reposter don't like the pairing but why post it in the first place?

Red Hood and the Outlaws #15 Vol. 2

I have to admit I'm not looking forward to where the solicits has this arc going which made me more reluctant to read my current favorite series. This review wasn't written while I was reading the comic like I normally do.

What's been happening

My postal service is still adjusting to some changes so I got my comics a little late but I still haven't read RHATO as I'm currently sick. I just don't feel up to writing a review while reading the issue.

I'll probably not use the poll again. I didn't expect to get a lot of votes but it already seems to be messed up as I'm getting two different numbers for those that voted. Red Hood and Artemis seems to be in the lead despite a slow start, I didn't see that happening.

Some quick thoughts

Just some short summaries on some titles I haven't really wrote much about. No real spoiler.

Trying out the Poll

I wanted to get some insight into what topic would be more interesting for me to do an essay/meta on. I do have another topic I might post soon that's not on the list. This poll is RHATO focused. I wanted to do one for Booster but since he's not appearing as often there's not as much to talk about. I do have one thing I want to discuss about Booster but I'm not sure if I'll wait until it's closer to his next appearance. Maybe since it has to do with a sort of Jurgens' plot.

Anyway the poll is something I'm mostly testing out. I might not use it long.

Gotham City Garage

I like this series but I just have so many questions how this city/world works. I'll either do a review on the series or talk about it at length some time. It's a digital first series so sections of it are already out online before the physical copies.

Trinity #14

More of the arc that thus far as the Outlaws possessed. The magic trio except possibly Constantine being useless. Ra's Al Ghul being overly powerful to the point he stabbed four of the heroes three of whom are far more powerful than him. The new 52 version of Circe. And the Trinity who are bland except for drama Bruce has over Jason.

I'm waiting for my comics to get delivered. I want to finish my DC Icons Super Sons review but my computer needs to be fixed to upload the pictures. I hate waiting.

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold Pops

I'm not much of a Pop fan but I always enjoy seeing any of my favorite characters get attention. There's two variants metallic and non-metallic. If I got these I'm not sure which it would be. I'd want metallic for Booster and non-metallic for Ted.

The new bad bat future

I don't like how Tynion writes the bat family so this doesn't entirely surprise me. Be that as it may I need to vent.

Jason Todd's Friendship with Roy Harper Part 2

I realized I didn't update this previous write up. Since then some things have been changed and been expanded on. This is how the two actually met.

Comics where you age people randomly I guess

So in the future (10-20 years ?) Kate is just starting to age, Jason who is at least a dozen years younger than her looks way older and Dick only has grey hairs in his mini series. Tim looks fine although he's not much younger than Jason. WTF.

What's canon for Booster and the JLI now?

I recall Giffin saying Ted wasn't in the JLI in an interview. So that means he was never friends with Booster right?

What about Guy? Did he still date Tora? Did he have a longer working relationship with the JLI?

Do any of them have a history with Max Lord? Because he was only interesting as a villain in JLGL. The reason for that was because it stressed how much he cared about them and how they considered him a friend.

What origin happened for Booster? Is he still stuck as Booster Rider?

Batman Day Digital Sale

I was worried that with Harley Quinn "taking over" Batman Day the only titles that would be on sale would be ones with her in the books. That's not the case and I think this might be a bigger selection than the previous years. There's more Jason Todd trades (although no new ones) and Cassandra Cain appears in a lot. There's also the usual titles I've already read or have no interest in reading. But I'm happy with the ones listed that don't fit either of those categories.

I don't see all their videos but I usually enjoy them when I do. I thought this was was fun.

Unsure if I want to watch Young Justice

I've heard a couple of plot points that make me not want to watch it although I've had some people recommend it.

I read one of them and I gotta admit I'm disappointed. Yeah I expected it to be a commercial but I kind of wanted to be funnier. It's not even the weirdest thing I read this year.

A Year of Writers 2017 Part 1

I've been doing my yearly best and worst list for awhile but I always cringe at the idea of putting best and worst writers/artists. I don't think it's really fair to do that when I read one writer/artist doing more issues than another. I've decided to do an examination of each writer's style to see what worked and didn't.

This has been something fans have been asking in recent issues. Writer Scott Lobdell has stated in a podcast that he doesn't want to go the romantic route but editorial does. Dexter Soy's art has made readers question if the characters are headed for less than platonic waters.

Questions Raised about the Rebirth Bana-Mighdall

I have a lot since their different from the first version of the Bana-Mighdall.

How close does Jason feel to the Bat family?

I saw complaints about this due to RHATO #13 vol.2. I don't think this comes out of no where or is step back in characterization. There's been some improvement in his relationships with them but have they ever been an actual family towards him since Jason returned ?

I think I previously mentioned wanting another Wonder Woman title but it would be cool to expand the mythos with an Amazon series. To learn more about the Themyscirans and Bana-Mighdall. I feel like there's so many unanswered questions.

Short Review: Super Son #6

My last issue.

Waiting for mail

And the tracking says it should have come that day. My mail doesn't have a particular time it arrives anymore. I don't know what happens but sometimes it can be late in the day. Anyway I keep checking the status and it remains the same. Then later on it says that they attempted to deliver it but they didn't have access. Uh, I never heard a doorbell around the time listed. I was waiting for it ever since I got home. The package is too big to go into mail box so it has to come to my door.

It can't be delivered today so I have to wait to extra days. I was really looking forward to that package with all my comic stuff.

More Mattel Multiverse

I don't think I posted this before but these weren't at the SDCC reveal. A nicer selection than the stuff at SDCC but not much I'd consider getting. It should be noted some of these were rush painted and won't be the final versions. I'm disappointed in the version of Bizarro they chose and surprised DC Collectibles haven't done the Luthor figure.

Short Review: Rebirth Aquaman #25 & #26

I heard this series was good and it featured the return of Dolphin into the Rebirth continuity. After seeing a preview of #26 I had to get these issues.

This will be looking at Red Hood's two attempts to mentor two very different people that could be labelled as monsters. I think it's remarkable to see how this came about and how these two differ.

This has been brought up recently because of Snyder's current work and a line from Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad.

Possible Outlaws ?

I remember someone once saying the Outlaws could potentially turn into an Anti-hero Justice League. It got me thinking who could be on the team if they ever add more members. This is just some ideas based around the concept of legacy.

It seems like everyone really does know and show Nightwing by his rear.

Dark Days Casting doesn't sound great

No big spoilers to reveal from what I've seen. I just found Duke 's codename to be disappointing. Also you know Batman screwed up when Hal Jordan has to call him out on being reckless and stupid.

Rest in Peace Joan Lee

I remember her when she played Madam Webb in the animated Spider-Man series. She was married to Stan Lee ever since 1947 and inspired him to write what he wanted before he decided to quit comics. This advise let him create the Fantasic Four and a lot of other successful comics. It's been said that Stan based Mary Jane Watson on her.

RHATO "Who is Artemis?" Overview Review

This was an arc that was mainly put together in order to build up Artemis since we surprisingly have very little information on her despite the character appearing in the 90s. It also sets up future plot points for the other two leads and has a link with Jason's past.

DC Solicits for September 2017

There seems to be a lot of big SPOILERS in this one for future storylines.

Tumblr can be a horrible place

You might find some cool sites but there's so much pointless crap. People getting upset over pairings that aren't canon, being furious that their headcanon isn't being treated like canon. Getting facts wrong and blaming people for stuff that isn't even the accused fault. Making blanket statements and stating something sucks without properly explaining why. It's aggravating and I barely go there except to visit the sites that are good. Even then you hear about the frustrating stuff.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #11 Vol. 2

I pre-ordered this but I saw it at a book store too. Which really surprised me since I rarely find it there. I couldn't wait to read it and I figured why not support the series a little more. I pre-ordered futures issues so I might not get anymore at the store. Partly because they one seem to get one issue of this series at a time. On to the review.

I thought it was a good topic to discuss and was waiting until the end of her arc to post this. Then I heard people are fuming over the idea of her liking a man. Great timing huh? This deals with past canon and current.

But I'm waiting to see how the new Batman and sister of Damian plot pans out first. Anyway Booster Gold and Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) showed up. I kind of knew where this was heading by the solicits but this still had great interactions with the guys.

On another note: If Booster shows up in the next game I hope his super involves throwing his enemy into the timeline and have them get attacked in whatever eras the go through. That would be a lot of fun.

Reading spoilers for Dark Days The Forge

And maybe it makes more sense in the comic it's self but just reading about it confused me. Some general thoughts based on what I heard. Any clarification is welcomed.

My comics just got ruined

My glass fell and spilled all over my comics. Artemis Requiem is drying but I don't think it's going to be salvageable. I'm still going through the damage but my Rebirth RHATO VOL. 2 trade has a few pages struck together while Year One Wonder Woman trade looks worse off. This really sucks.

Could Jurgens be teasing Booster's return? I hope so.

That time Selina dreamed of marrying Batman

There were probably other times but I remembered this image.

You probably can't see it clearly but Tim is wearing a bow tie.  If Selina and Bruce got married they might not have the uniforms (I hope not) but I'd want some allusions to their IDs. Even if it's just something like bat cuff links and a cat wedding cake. Something. 

Mezco One:12 Wonder Woman Movie Figure

The second female character to be made in the Mezco One:12 line. Unlike the other figures she doesn't seem to have any cloth clothing but rather plastic. I feel like the price should go down because of that. But this figure does look awesome.

Jason Todd isn't legally dead?

I gotta admit I've had a lot of questions about this for awhile. I wondered how he existed even though he's legally dead. Why no one outside the superhero community questioned it. Well this was kinda brought up...it just makes me a bit confused. What I like, what I don't like and what I want to see explained.

He played a memorable Batman and brought some lightness to the role. He will be missed.

On my RHATO Theory

When I first re-read Red Hood and the Outlaws volume 2 something came to mind within the first two issues. It made me see some clues that supported this idea that was already forming. I might have gotten a little excited over what this could mean. This is a little bit of my thought process for how I came to my conclusion with the clues I found. I think the story was changed near the end since we never get satisfying answers to some parts.

World Building in RHATO Rebirth

According to this interview:

Nrama: This week is the publication of the Rebirth issue, which proceeds August's new Red Hood and the Outlaws#1. How does the Rebirth issue kind of set things up?

Lobdell: Rebirth is a strong start to a new series... and as you read if you'll start to notice just how much is secretly crammed into Rebirth in terms of building the world. There is almost not a panel that doesn't get used somewhere down the line. (Lots of Easter eggs are going to be bringing readers back to the Rebirth issue again and again over the next few months!)

I've only read one issue of Deathstroke and I didn't like Lazarus Contract. That said I don't think that it's right that Christopher Priest got so much hate over it. I don't agree whenever any writer get treated horribly. Should writers be criticized? Of course but for their writing not as people.

Said criticism should be constructive. I understand the need to vent, many of my reviews are done as I'm reading them to capture my gut feelings in the moment. But I also understand that there's more at work than simply one writer especially in a crossover.

Expensive figures but pretty awesome looking. I knew about them for awhile but beyond a couple I never really looked into them before. I mentioned the Arsenal one here.

Writers' Block: Wonder Woman Origin Pérez vs. Rucka

I got the trade for Rucka's origin for Rebirth Wonder Woman thinking I'd continue to enjoy the story. I didn't and found my self comparing it to the Pérez version. This is a comparison of similar story beats in their stories.

Should I be worried about Injustice 2?

I always semi-follow any story line that has my favorites in it. But apparently someone online already saw spoilers of one ending (didn't say which) and said they feel sick. That's not a good sign.

Has no one besides Rip ever dealt with time travel in this series ? Because no one else seems to know the rules. Or they know but don't care. I'm not sure.

Happy Futures?

I love time travel/possible future stories but I think we need more variety. I'm not asking for things to be perfect but having the heroes lead happy lives would be a nice change. Technically we got that for Booster although we never really see the whole picture. The Convergence change kind of ruined that too, at least what we see of it.

Fatherhood vs Crime fighter ? Why Not Both?

This seems to be a hot topic now with many asking if Batman can be one or the other. I haven't really seen anyone ask if he can be both. Why can't he? We see other heroes do better than him.

Disregarding Fan Favorites: How Marvel ended Spider-Girl

Once Marvel attempted to have Peter Parker and his wife Mary Jane have a child. Then the rug was pulled out from the creators having the baby disappear and never be mentioned again. At least until a What if? issue came with the child as a teen that they dubbed Spider-Girl.

The character suffered a number of cancellations but was repeatedly saved over the years thanks to loyal fans. To this day May "Mayday" Parker a.k.a. Spider-Girl has the longest solo run of any female character at Marvel. Yet Marvel kept forcing changes onto the character to take away her spotlight.

Free Comic Book Day was kinda disappointing

Most were gone by the time I got there and the things I was I was going to buy weren't there. Didn't the new Wonder Woman trade come out this week? It was too crowded to really ask anyway but I asked someone at a book store who wasn't sure. I also found out Roy is still in Green Arrow but didn't see the current issue.

On the bright side I saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Which was pretty good although I know I missed a lot of Easter Eggs going on in the background.

EDIT: I know I can get the free comics online it's just more fun to get them in the store.

I'm not loving the extra wait between issues but it makes it cheaper to also get digital copies. All you have to do is pull off the sticker on the last page to get the code. Their only good for a limited time and I've heard eBay was cracking down on people selling codes too. While I now have both copies I read this digitally because it helps keep certain things from being spoiled panels before I read it.

How are comics edited?

With the Syaf controversy and other such incidences I wonder how comics are being edited. I once heard that the editors don't proof read the books for grammar, spelling mistakes and art problems so much as make sure certain things are or aren't in the books. I don't think it's continuity because, well, books don't carry the same portrayals or nods to some solo titles. Is it just allusion to bigger titles? I'm not trying to belittle the work of editors I'm just not sure what's true or not. I can understand some things slipping under the radar but other bits like Colossus' shirt kind of demand some questions.

I have to wait a week for my comics

I have to figure out an easier way to get my books on time since the digital change up is currently messing up my reading process.

In the meantime I'm going to be working on some projects. If results are good I'll post it but for now I'm in research mode.

I really want Jason Todd Robin series

He seriously got screwed on his Robin time and has the least amount of stories. A mini series could build up future storylines and we'd actually get Robin stories with him having his own costume. Sadly there's only a few writers I'd actually trust to write it. More stories of one of my favorites, that's well written, is always welcomed. It would also clear up misunderstandings of his Robin days. Namely he didn't act the way the bat family suddenly claimed after his death.

Qurac and it's current importance

A fictional country in the DC universe that used to be wedged between Oman, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. I say "used to be" as it might be a little unclear where it's located in current canon.

What to read next

I realized that I don't have many current titles on my list this year and I'm wondering if I should check out any other titles. I'm not getting anything from Marvel but if anyone has ideas of what other series I can read let me know.

I'm also going through some back issues of Wonder Woman and I adore it. I'm not sure how much I'll read but I'm already considering what older series I should try next. I'm thinking of TT, possibly Superman or Batman. I'm not sold on anything yet so any suggestions would be welcomed.

Super Family Test

I expected this to be harder but I got a 100%. Nothing new is in it and I think that even if you don't know some answers you can figure it out based on the other answers. If you know comics in general anyway. I love superhero quizzes.

Bad Character Work

Have you ever had a few favorite characters that some writers never get right? That they just wrote stereotypically and then sees other readers praise the bad interpretations? Mostly because the writers are currently hot or they have no idea how the characters usually act? I've seen this happen with Booster and all the bat kids. It's lazy and annoying.

Marvel Sales Slump

I haven't commented on this mostly because I thought it was an April Fool's joke. Nope, I just heard about it a day later. What Marvel thinks is responsible for their lower sales.

Getting out of X-Men

My interest in Marvel superhero comics is nearly dead. Their not publishing books starring my favorite characters and I'm not a fan of what they've done. Still I've held onto a lot of comics but I'm finally taking the first step in getting rid of some. X-Men to be exact which I doubt I'll ever be interested in again. Sad but true. So I'll be giving my sister and brother-in-law some of my trades. If they like them I'll send more.

Nightwing and Batgirl movies

I'm trying not to get excited about Nightwing until we get more information. I'm not sure how I feel about Batgirl at this stage. This movie will probably be about Babs and lately I haven't been loving how she's been written. So it's basically all a wait and see for me.

The wait for more comics

I pre-ordered Booster Gold/Flintstones which has already been released. I heard it was good but I won't get it for a couple of weeks. I really miss Booster.

This is also the month I cancelled my online subscription to RHATO since the physical copy will have the code for a digital comic. I'll have to wait until that comes in the mail too.

So many comics to read

I have been reading through my trades I previously didn't have time to read. Right now I'm going through the four 75th anniversary Wonder Woman trades. Then I remembered I hadn't read Super Sons yet and had to sort through my comic pile to find it. I also have some comics coming in the mail soon. All in all this isn't a bad problem to have.

The figures I talked about here might be cancelled. Nightwing has been delayed and Ertigan has been cancelled/put on hold due of lack of retail interest. I pre-ordered Blue and Gold but it's currently unavailable on the site. Did retailers really have no interest in them?

The Price Hike Adjustment

If some titles are going up a dollar and including digital codes do those codes effect digital sales or count as sales? I'm going to be cancelling my digital subscription to use the codes which also means I won't be reading RHATO for at least a week after the new issues are released from now on.

Kawaii Bat Family Series 2 figures

I'm pleasantly surprised to see all of the current Robins are included in this. I usually don't get these, I only bought some RWBY minis (assuming these are the same size.) I think I wouldn't mind getting most of these with the exception of the Gordons. I'm not fond of this version of Babs and Jim isn't as high on my favorite list as the others. I love that unmasked Jason is the chase figure and he looks like he's posing for a photo shoot.

A better fighter than Jason and Tim despite them previously taking him down with little effort. That explains Robin War but it still doesn't make sense. I don't buy his list in general but having Damian so near the top made it harder to take seriously.

Is getting Batman #16 worth it? Because I'm extra cautious about which appearances to get since I dislike how these characters are written in recent years. At least when their together. I've heard good things about this one though.

Who owns Batman's copyright in the DCU?

I'd think it be Bruce Wayne since he revealed he financed Batman. But maybe not because someone else can make a fast food restaurant? If Batman can't have an owner to his rights does that mean there's a lot of different products including embarrassing ones? See this is why Bruce needs Booster Gold, say what you want about selling his image but at least Booster had the power to shut down people trying to steal it.

Maybe going back to my LCS will work out

I haven't gone there for awhile since it's out of the way although I'm considering it because of the $3.99 price change will force me to do things differently with my digital purchases. But today I got my comics in the mail. Usually their placed at my door but today they were crammed into my mail box. The packaging was bent to make it fit while making it hard to get anything else out. Luckily nothing was ruined inside but it reminded me of story where an artist had their art damaged because of this.

I'm not mad but I'll admit it was annoying when I saw everything jammed together. I'll be seeing if I can have them print a "do not bend" label or something.

RWBY Why did no one help with Cardin?

DC Solicits for April 2017

Nothing new this month just a few things that I was already interested in and a couple details I thought were were worth mentioning.

Two accidents in a month?

Awhile back there was a car crash nearby and from what I heard no one is really sure why it happened. The car was going too fast and at least one person died. There was just an accident on the on the same street but a bit further down. I'm not sure of all the details but it involved a car crushing a man. I just feel so bad and want to do something but at this point there's not much I can do. Maybe I can once more information comes out. It feel very surreal.

DC raising prices

I waited to see if this was just an option for the digital coded issues while regular non-coded issues remained the same. From what little I've seen of the upcoming comics this seems to be just $3.99 issues with no $2.99 issues being offered. Right?

At first this didn't seem to be a problem for me because I don't buy many series in general. But yeah it will affect me. I'm just not sure what to do about it yet.

I get RHATO digitally and the physical copy later. But if the physical copy has the code I have to cancel my subscription and find a way to get the issue in my hand faster than I normally do.

This is going to be a pain.

I really have to kill my curiosity

Because wondering how other fans feel about something or what theories they have only leads to headaches. A.K.A. message boards and the dreaded T. I watch, read, get things I enjoy and it's sad to see people invested in hating something. I drop things that I don't like and enjoy talking about what I love.

A lot of the things I read were just so toxic.

RWBY World of Remnant: The Great War
