I have some serious doubts about 2017 already but I'm hoping some good comes in the new year.

If you could only get one series of your current titles which would it be and why?

I think everyone knows mine is RHATO and the reason is it usually my favorite read of the month with good characterizations.

Booster Gold meets Fred Flintstone?

I'm still not sure how I feel about this one. Besides surprised. I didn't like how this team used Booster in All Star Western but I might get this just because I miss Booster. The cover is a lot of fun.

But why does Fred look like a model? Wait their saying that's who Rosie is?!

Too much to do

Between working, appointments and shopping I've had little time to do anything else. I usually send by sister's presents early but I was waiting for some comics. After I get them tomorrow I'll try to send it out. I'm giving her and my brother-in-law some Damian comics and RHATO Rebirth. Since their favorite Robin is Tim I'll have to send them a note. I don't want them getting ticked off without knowing the details. My sister especially would be upset about that.

And no. I'm not getting them the recent Tim comics since I don't know first hand what quality they are. Besides I previously gave them a Tim trade.

Solicits--so far--for Free Comic Book Day

DC and Marvel aren't saying what their books are based on. I'm guessing DC is doing something connected to the Watchmen plot. The Legend of Zelda comics got my interest with the TP story.

RWBY Volume 4 Thus far

I've enjoyed it and all the characters so far. Outside seeing reaction videos I mostly stay away from the fandom which sadly hasn't seemed too friendly. At least in certain circles. I don't hate any of the characters or see a point in getting so invested in pairings. That's not what the show is about anyway. I just like the show for what it is and if they want to go in a different direction it's up to RT and only them. I'm just enjoying the ride.

I got the Batman and Robin figures when they came out because I thought the series would continue with all the characters. DCC never did so I thought I might as well give them to Toys for Tots. Someone told me I should have sold them instead but I think kids would get more enjoyment out of it then I would waiting for someone to buy them online.

More Books to Read

I 've been busy lately but soon enough I'll be able to finish off my reviews. I just have Teen Titans, Superman and next week's books then I think I'll be done for the year. After that I'll be able to post a lot of things I've been waiting to talk about including the 2016 list. Any series you read that you enjoyed more than the rest this year?

Teen Titans #24 (Pre-Rebirth)

The last issue of Tim's team before Damian joins the TT in Rebirth and this acts as a grieving issue. His teammates talk about their favorite memories of Tim Drake.

I only spent a few cents on a few comics and a couple dollars on some trades. While shopping I realized how much I really wish we had more well written bat family interactions because I brought a book I'm pretty sure won't have any just to see them together.

Gotham Academy in trouble?

I read this recently and that's sad because it's been a fun series. I stopped reading right after Robin War partly to save money but I think I'll be getting this again. To support it and see if it's still the book I enjoyed.

Have you ever...

...wanted to talk about something or at least see how others react to it but you have to wait awhile? It's wonderful and horrible at the same time. I now understand how my sister feels when she introduces me to one of her shows.

Technically I'm halfway done Christmas Shopping

It's easier for me to start shopping early for money reasons and to avoid a lot of the crowd. Unfortunately it's usually the people that are easy to get presents for that I finish with first. Now I'm left with trying to figure out gifts for loved ones that never give me any ideas what they want. One gift card is nice but too many and it's impersonal to them.

Am I the only one that analysis stuff like this?

I admit I may overthink some things since it's so much fun. I love stories that make me ponder and enjoy taking apart details to question what they mean. I do metas discussing different aspects and ask questions in my reviews.

Some Variants for next month

The three that stood out the most although I will admit that Wizard of Oz Harley Quinn variant was a runner up.

Dexter Soy out Mirko Colak in?

It looks that way. It's hard to tell how his Jason will be, the Red Hood shown isn't in action, but Colak has some nice looking art. Be that as it may it's still sad to see Soy go but at least he finished the first arc. I really hope this doesn't turn into a revolving door of artists again. Not just the big titles like Batman need to have artist stay on for longer duration.

Because the cover for #4 was supposed to be used for #5 making me wonder if the original cover for #4 was supposed to be a fake cover. I would have thought they were originally mixed up except for the fact the website has the same cover for both issues. So excited for what this could mean  I can barely contain it ! This is why I wish this series was bi-weekly !

Another year without Booster Gold?

It's really mind boggling when I think about it. DC was building Booster up then he gets his JLI title canceled and barely shows up afterwards. The sad thing is: It wouldn't shock me if he's not in the upcoming event. It seems like something custom made for him but it wouldn't shock me.

When Booster does show up again can we get another costume change? It's been awhile and the new 52 look was never his strongest design.

Do you remember comics that made you cry?

Or get misty eyed or just feel so much for the character(s)? Touching, sad, gut wretching moments that you can empathize with? I've been thinking of those a lot lately. Some stories go too far making you furious about what's written while others don't really earn your sympathy. There are others still that make you think, that build layers making the impact all the more meaningful. Those catch you off guard and make you feel the full scope of it all.

Too Much? Yes, yes it is.

Poor Jason has to be a hostage to save an innocent and judge Harvey's style at gunpoint. 

I always loved this panel

Back when I first saw this I wondered what Willis did for Two-Face. Look at his nice suit, I remember thinking he might have been an accountant. Then the desk caught my eye and I started to wonder if Willis got the tedious job of custom making these things for Harvey. Can you imagine how frustrating that would be? Cutting everything in half and having to think of the two different styles? Of course that would mean Harvey wanted to kill him for messing that up. It was a silly idea anyway plus it's implied he just did henchman type of things. 

Still can you imagine how much Harvey spends on his theme?

Comic Canon Always Changes

Reading through the older runs certain things pop up and I always wondered why they made the changes. This one is in regards to Catherine Todd.

Jason Todd and How Women have Affected him

There have been essays on how Jason Todd is a feminist and while I won't get quite that in depth I still think it's worth noting. This isn't to say that the other Robins don't care about women but Jason has definitely been affected by them more. He has the strongest relationships with women while he doesn't have that many close male bonds

Red Hood and the Outlaws #4 VOL. 2

I'm hoping that this issue can improve my mood on this terrible day. First I should note this isn't the cover that was solicited making me wonder if the real cover for #5 is spoilery. I heard rumors this one would be a big issue so let's see if that's true.

I tried to go to the dentist. I didn't want to be put to sleep for the extraction but the whole thing was a disaster. Long story short I have to go to a specialist now and I'm pissed off about the whole thing.

Oh yeah and never before has Padme's remark been so spot on.

Just because I always find it interesting. There were a few different meanings to some of these. Do the names fit the characters ?

Should Mime Return ?

As RHATO has already linked past canon into present I was thinking of past stories that could be used. Mime was...well a mime that hated sound. She was an attempt to create a Harley Quinn like character before Harley was around. I'd like to see her obsession with silence played up more, it'd be fun to have a mostly "silent" issue. But the problem would come from making her different enough from Harley and Jokers' daughter.

Who else could make a comeback from the Robin years?

Weird thought about name meanings

This came  to me out of no where.

Giffin adding Sugar and Spike to Blue Beetle

Interview here. Seriously kudos to Giffin for deciding not to make their relationship romantic but otherwise I'm considering dropping this title. I don't really have a sense for who most of these characters are in this volume and adding more characters isn't helping matters.

Delay on Damian Books

I was going to read Superman #10 and Teen Titans Rebirth but I'm waiting for it to ship. I didn't want to get TT Rebirth but I couldn't think of another book to get for a discount. When I get them and if I'm able I'll review them.

I might be offline for awhile

It turns out I have to get my Wisdom teeth pulled. I never had teeth pulled before so I don't know how  up I'll be for posting things. Maybe I will be just to take my mind off of things. I don't know when I'll do it yet but it won't be this week. Just a heads up if I don't do a review or comment on any news that might drop. Or if I write weird things after the surgery.

Review-wise since I'm getting two books to read. I'm hoping I like them because I haven't read anything he's been written decent in since Gleason wrote Robin, Son of Batman. ...Maybe Gotham Academy but that was pretty much a cameo.

Giving out Halloween Candy

Most of the kids were polite even if they were excited to get candy but a few stood out.

I saw at least a couple girls wearing "boys costumes." One was Darth Vader without the mask and one was Ralphel (TMNT.) I also had a Batman but no clowns. A Skeleton gave me his mom's catalogue for Christmas stuff. The Cowboy was one of the nicest although most of them said thank you.

One was a little Iron Man that was the last of the group of six kids that arrived at my door. I was making sure I gave them all the same amount and reached a girl before him. He started yelling:" GIVE IT TO ME !!!" Over and over.

I told him to wait so I could make sure they all got the same but he wouldn't stop until I surrendered the candy. I don't think he said thank you.

A little girl some time later beamed when she saw what candy I gave her. "I like those !"

But I still have tons of candy but at least there were some memorable moments.

This isn't quite right

When the question of Jason's "magical powers" was asked this was an answer I saw that was given. I don't have an account on tumblr so I'm not going to respond there by I'll say my piece here.

The Entry I mentioned

This is the one that says Jason has magical powers. Unfortunately someone circled the fact Jason has black hair and blue eyes (that's not new) but you can still read it. Well if that's the case they have the wrong cause for Jason's magic.

Trying out new books?

I've been thinking about trying out lesser known titles. The problem with that is you never know if it's your taste until you read it. Which means potentially wasting money (I'd probably get digital) and trusting the summary. Maybe by choosing a writer I'm familiar with?

Digital Comics Problem

I'm trying to download Blue Beetle but the screen keeps getting frozen. It might be awhile before I'm able to do a review. I'm hoping this isn't a persistent problem. I only get BB in digital form since I'm not sure if I'm sticking with it (I didn't remember it was out until I got an e-mail.) I get RHATO in physical form too it just takes longer to get those issues.

Black Mask and Symbolism

After visiting a message board recently the subject of probing deeper into the meaning of Black Mask...uh mask and the symbolism came up. I thought that would be a fun subject to talk about and if that meshes with the current portrayal.

I looked at another DC Character Guide

It's the latest to be released that brings up Rebirth stuff and since I'm used flipping through Batman guides I forgot to look at other non-Batman related characters. 

Damian has two pages, I couldn't find Tim who should be next to Jason, Cassandra Cain has a few paragraphs based on her Orphan persona. 

Jason has a little more but for some reason it mentions things from Tynion? It says that he has magical (or mystical) powers he got from the Lazarus Pit (what?) Then lists Midas as the Outlaws enemy. The guy that showed in one issue?

How do comics go bi-weekly?

I'm wondering how much a comic series has to make for DC to have it go from monthly to bi-weekly.  Because I'm reading two ongoing titles and it's uncertain how long I'll stick with one. That means I'll be down to a single title. It's a series I love and would be more than happy to read twice a month.

Rebirth Bizarro action figure?

I'm still not at the point I'd look for one of the old figures to have one to put in my RHATO display but I can say I'm definitely a fan of the way Lobdell is writing him so far. I never really got the appeal of Bizarro before. The backwards talk could be annoying and sometimes confusing with writers going back and forth with what his meaning was. I think I'm going to like him a lot since he's being played more seriously. Which means at some point I will want figure.

When that happens I think I'd want Bizarro done in Dexter Soy's style. Putting in the little Superman accessory would be a must though.

DC January 2017 Solicits

RHATO makes top ten?

This surprises me since it's currently number seven on the DC digital list. But I guess this is just the sales for the physical copies. Great news regardless as this was a very emotional issue with plenty of depth.

Apparently there's someone that's pretending to be Scott Lobdell telling people to illegally download comics and doing posts to make fun of him. I didn't think anyone wanted to waste time being so petty but I guess there's always someone. I have writers I don't like but I just try to avoid things they write and do reviews. I don't get this train of thought.

Odyessy of the Amazons Mini Series

I wonder if this will get into the Bana Mighdall. Sounds like a nice change of pace to focus on the Amazons themselves before Diana is in the picture.

Digital Bat book sale

Since Batman Day is on Saturday some issues and trades are on sale. I was looking forward to this but I'm honestly disappointed. Last year they had a bigger selection for this singles and a lot of the trades are the same. Is the TNMT crossover and BaRE the only new trades? I might not have loved the Grayson trade but at least it was something different. I guess I got a little too hopeful that other bat related non-Bruce titles would get some love too.

EDIT: Thanks for adding more DC! Still  a lot of Bruce trades but at least there's more to chose from.

Booster Gold: Hacker

Remember the time it was confirmed that Booster is easily able to hack into government files because computer systems today are so primitive to him?

Will the missing superheo kids come back?

As in Lian Harper, Iris and Jai West?

DC has shown Iris in Dc Universe Rebirth as Impulse in her dad's memory. Is it possible that their bring any of these kids back? I think it's more likely for the Flash kids as it helps differ Wally from the other Wally and the other Flash. Then again Linda doesn't seem to know him so they might need to start over.

Lian would seriously change who Roy is although Titans Hunt basically ignored any personality Roy has anyway. The new Cheshire is also way creepier and annoying than the original. Assuming she hasn't had things retconned. Would DC really bring back kids when they have been reluctant to let characters marry? Well their letting Mera and Arthur get married again so there's some hope.

Bizarro Code

Wait, if Bizarro does the opposite of everything... Does he mean he loves beauty instead of hates and hates ugliness instead of loves? Does he mean it's a big crime to make everything perfect or it's fine that everything is messed up?

No spoilers for what my theory is but I think I might need to explain my thought process. Bear with me as I attempt to go over how I reached my conclusion.

The Injustice video game has a comic series filling in the gaps. Fans have been wanting to see more of the bat family since the game hasn't shown everyone. With the sequel in the works fans are hoping for more characters.

Booster Gold Canon Confusion

When you think about it this has been confusing for the past few years.

I'm not sure I get the complaint

I've been mostly staying away from message boards and the like for awhile. But I recently looked for a few reactions for Rebirth. I came across a complaint I'm not sure I understand.

RHATO #3 variant cover

It's not finished but it makes me so happy. This is the issue I pre-ordered the variant for even though I had no idea what it would be. I knew this was likely to focus on Bizarro but I don't even know where to begin with this one. You know how they say a picture can says a thousand words? Well I want the origin of the story behind this one. How did it get to this point?!

Something that came to me today.

Does Batman get gas?

Another weird thought that occurred to me. Alfred took care of the cooking and car stuff for Bruce growing up. In some canon Bruce even has a car guy or two. When Jason took the bat wheels Bruce made him put them back on. Is that just him giving that job to someone else or does he have limited experience with certain aspects of cars?  I just have this image of Batman driving around until he's out of gas and sending Robin to get it. Then the reaction of the people when they see Robin pay and get the gas while grumbling under their breath.

What's the deal with Bette Kane?

She's either someone that no one takes seriously or forgotten about. Despite being the first Batgirl (or Bat-Girl) and both Kate and Bruce's cousin no one seems to notice her. This is someone that was literally cut open, had her heart stop on her multiple times and STILL had the will to suit up after she recovered.

I'm not saying I want her in DET but it would be nice if she was written well in a bat book. Isn't she in college? Bette hasn't even been on panel with lot of the family. Remember who she was compare to? There's ton of potential being wasted.

Dexter Soy is amazing

I love what he's done throughout RHATO but look at Artemis. She looks like an actual threat. I see this and I think Jason's not going to be able to put up much of a fight next issue.

Because he has a lot. This is not counting all the people that had parental bonds with him. Just the ones that are either his birth parents, adopted or by marriage.

Blue Beetle Rebirth #1

I believe both leads have had two previous solo volumes each before this series. I only read a couple of back issues for Ted's BB series although I'm more familiar with him elsewhere. I adored the first Jaime series while I didn't like what I read of the second. This series does take an idea that strangely hasn't been done yet: having Ted and Jaime star in the same series. While they have interacted before (Booster Gold Vol. 2) it hasn't been like this.

For Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes. Tomorrow is the big day for the new series starring both! No idea what to expect but if nothing else I'm looking forward to seeing these two together.

Too many equals deaths?

Someone mentioned that there are too many bat characters and every time I hear that phrase it reminds me of these arguments I find online. How you could or should only have a certain number of characters related to a certain brand. Back when DOTF was coming out I remember talk of an actual death to "cut down the family." There was also debate of whether writers usually have this in mind for events. 

I mean it's possible but at the moment I don't see writers listing these characters down and making a check list of the ones their killing within a year. Shouldn't deaths have more meaning than keeping numbers down? I know deaths are considered for certain things like Infinite Crisis but that's a larger scope story.

I might not like a huge bat family since some are ignored (anyone remember Bette Kane?) and the way others are handled. But I dunno, I can ignore most of it to focus on what I enjoy. It sucks when the characters you love are killed and even if I don't care/know all of the newer ones I'd feel for the ones that do.

I'm so glad this character is still around because this is the woman that ran a crime school Batman put Jason in. This was her lesson plan:

This was her teaching her students (Jason seen between the two kids) to say no to smoking.

Although she was fine with kids drinking.

Despite Bruce basically putting Jason in the worst place possible Jason escaped and the rest is history.

Like all the DC Rebirth titles this series has a soundtrack. I'm very amused that so many Les Miserables songs are on it. I would have put Look Down on the list though.

I'm unsure how much of previous canon (New 52/DCYOU that is) happened but right now it doesn't matter. I can wait for those answers. There may be more information in interviews but I'm saying that for later.

Where I've been

Work and family stuff kept me busy lately. My dad got his leg surgery and is recovering. I'm helping him out while he's recuperating so we'll see if I can get around to posting.

I guess I could have tried to do another review but I need space when I'm reading and writing as I tend to have a lot of thoughts going on at once. I brought comics to work a couple of times but I could never enjoy them as much. It was either too loud during my break or I felt rushed. Since most of my reviews are done as I'm reading them I often lose my train of thought before I get a chance to write my thoughts.

That doesn't happen as much when I'm in a quiet place though I forgot a few points I wanted to make with the RHATO Rebirth issue. There was just so much to cover. One of which was that Jason did originally freak out over Two Face but not the first time out. The same case though. It was over his dad being murdered by Harvey which is interesting when you consider why he does in the new version. I added that to the review but I doubt I'll out the rest in. I don't think anyone else cares what type of tires the bat wheels are. Anyway I'll try to do the RHATO review when I can. The opening page made me so happy, I was so shocked and pleased to see that character.

DC Universe Classics Artemis (Wonder Woman)

I got this in the mail when RHATO Rebirth came out but I haven't had a chance to talk about it since then. As this was a variant I could only get it without the packaging at a decent price and even that was a struggle. But I figured that if I was going to get it now was the time. Sorry for the pictures, it was the best I could do at the time.

So far everything is okay

My dad is feeling better than he expected. I didn't think it would be too bad but you never know. He has a few things he's still getting done that are mostly check ups and at least one operation. Months ago his foot slipped into a rabbit hole in his garden which messed up his knee. I'll probably be with him when he gets that done. Hopefully there won't be anything to worry about. Thanks for the well wishes guys, I appreciated it !

Might be gone for awhile

I don't usually post things outside comics so I know this is different. I wanted to explain just in case I'm not around for another week or so. At the moment my dad isn't feeling good and we won't know how things will go until after a procedure this week. I don't think it's too bad but it's hard to say at the moment. If I have a chance I'll try to post something Thursday or Friday. I'm just preoccupied right now trying to hope for the best.

A positive Rhato Rebirth Review

I think the review might be from the same guy that added the first RHATO to his worst series list and hated the Jaybird nickname. If so this is quite a turn around.

Also I can instantly think of two words more controversial than Jason Todd in the DCU. Killing Joke. Especially now.

Something that I thought about while looking over some comics. This also turned into a look at how Bruce and by extension the family play into it. How they might affect his emotional state.

Map of Wayne Manor ?

Has there ever been a map of it ? Of all the rooms and what they use them for ? The closest I found was the blueprints for the 60's tv show. I know comics don't show that stuff anymore since the last time I remember seeing anything like that was Booster Gold' s mansion in the first BG series. But you'd think sometime in the last 75 years they'd make one or have it in one of those guides.

Daniel Carter and Rose Levin

These two were set up as supporting characters for Booster Gold' s second series but after Johns/Katz left the title they barely showed up. As a result we missed the chance to see some great plotlines and interactions.

Rip Hunters' Blackboard

I miss Michelle, Booster and Rip but it's been a long time since we saw the blackboard. In fact I think this is the last time we saw one filled out, with the last time we see it being when it was written. Sure it was vague and usually had nothing to do with what we'd see in the series but it was fun. I also love the idea that (except for this board) Rip writes these out as cryptically as he can so Booster has no idea what he's talking about.

Out there Characters You'd Like to See

I was going to do a top ten list for both my favorite and least favorite RHATO issues. But I think I've been obvious with which issues I didn't like and I'm have trouble picking my favorites since some issues are back to back in arcs. But there are some characters I'd like to see, not necessarily in RHATO as I think some of them are little out there.

I love this cover, the composition, the colors, pretty much everything about this makes me happy. It reminds me of a different take of this:

SDCC coming up

I think it's July 21-24? I'm not expecting many big reveals from DC since their only in their second month for Rebirth but it would be cool to hear about a new series or mini. Fingers crossed for something fun from SDCC.

Great Custom Figures

I've been interested in how custom figures have been crafted for awhile. There's some great work with basically just putting parts from various figures together. There's also some that sculpt new parts and even those that create entire figures. One of my favorites does commissions although she doesn't do (to my knowledge) the latter. I never bought a piece but I love looking at her work. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel ones are my favorite. She puts so much detail into her pieces. If you go to her site be warned of nudity in the Game of Thrones section.

I've tried my hand at customs every once in awhile and decided not to use sculpty due to breakage. I might try something a little more difficult down the line though. It's hard not to look at custom work and not feel a little bit inspired.

Favorite Origin of a Superhero Name

I love that Booster got so nervous that he accidentally said his football nickname then the president cuts him off before he can completely correct himself. Booster just decides to own the mistake and the rest is history.

Rip Hunter suspects something?

Granted Convergence seems to have been retconned some and technically Rip should know about WW/SM happening elsewhere before. But during the two part Booster Gold Convergence special he seems to have some theories he doesn't get to voice. I know I mentioned this before but I really feel this loose end needs to be addressed.

Amazon Sisters

I've always been a sucker for family stuff whether the family in question is blood or not. With Amazons this bond is pretty sacred especially between certain Amazons.While the Finch run has it's problems I did like this exchange:

Sisters are equal, they look after each other and when needed keep the other in line. Donna Troy was especially close to Diana (not sure where the current story is going with that) and basically was her sister in all respects. Diana reaches out to others whether they are Amazons or not to offer sisterhood. I liked the bond with Artemis always calling her little sister (*1) then I got to Simone having Diana say she doesn't even know if Artemis is her friend. What? Being a sister is supposed to mean something, it says you have faith in the other person and Diana apparently doesn't even trust that their close?

*1 This amused me because I'm not sure if the "little" had to do with Diana being younger--which I assumed she wasn't--Artemis being taller or her just teasing Diana.

Harper Row Despised?

I don't go on boards often but I thought she was a little more popular because of Snyder. I can understand getting annoyed with her after the thing in BaRE but is she truly that hated at large? I haven't read much of her, the twist I read about is grating though I'm mostly indifferent to her at the moment. I heard someone say she was too perfect so I guess that's the main problem? Beyond the "ideal sidekick" bull.

Now that Red Hood/Arsenal has wrapped up there's some questions for how this affects the new series. I suspect Titans will ignore everything much like Titans Hunt has been. Still, how will the ending affect the bat family ? What about the Joker factor  from DUR #1 ?

A tiring and sad weekend

I've been working and it's been wiping me out lately. So I may or may not be on here for a bit. I might write about the solicits when they come out or try out another title. But at the moment that doesn't matter. While working I also heard what happened in Orlando during my break and there's a sense of surrealism when things like this happens. At least for me. I never want to believe things like this can happen even if it's sadly been recurring more often and it's takes a while for it to sink in. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends.

A look over the whole series to see what worked, what didn't and a few things that stood out. This is getting long so I'm splitting this up. These are sort of a review and meta in one.

It's been an interesting journey to see Jason Todd and Roy Harper's friendship throughout two series. I don't know how everything can be wrapped up in this issue but it should be emotional nonetheless. On a side note I've been seeing so many ads for Rebirth I kept thinking the next series was starting up instead of this issue.

Or to be more specifically what I've heard about the titles that have been released so far. I haven't read many spoilers so this is just the bare bones tidbits I've heard.

Last Week before Rebirth Books

I have some mixed feelings on Red Hood/Arsenal and Green Lanterns Corps Edge of Oblivion ending. While I'm sure things won't totally alienating once their, uh...rebirth-ed, it still feels like the end of an era. 

I usually like to get my GL books in trade but I missed them enough to follow the corps during their journey. I won't be getting the Hal Jordon title, to be honest I'm not sure why Guy and John can't have their own series again. For awhile we had a lot of Lantern books and it feels odd to quit after following them for a year. ...Now that I think about it I don't think GLCEOO or Lost Army ever explained how they got into this predicament in the first place. Which will make this storyline be more than a little pointless if it's not mentioned in the last issue...or where ever this tale truly ends.

Red Hood/Arsenal is going to be a bigger gut punch because I've been following their story since the new 52 began. Many writers attempt to build buddy dynamics or bromances but few succeed at making them feel natural. This was one of the few that worked and was one of the greatest things about this and RHATO VOL. 1. Jason Todd and Roy Harper are parting ways with Jason going on to Red Hood and the Outlaws VOL. 2 and Roy going to the Titans. It's doubtful if Titans will ever mention this friendship and it's sad to think they might end on bad terms.

Sudden Realization

RHA #13 and GLCEOO #6 are my last books before my Rebirth titles. There's a big gap in between the end of those two series (June 8) until Rebirth the titles on July 27. It makes me feel more inclined to try out either Wonder Woman or Dan Jurgens' Superman title. I did enjoy the Lois and Clark series. DUR #1 has me eager to read Rebirth titles and there are only two that will be out that I think I might like. As always I have to see if I can fit anything in the budget.

I just hate long waits.

When I do find stuff about the comic one I find that apparently people still don't get his motivations and think he was just cruel. I wish Johns or Jurgens would just bring him back. This is the perfect time for it.

I don't think I've bought an 80 page comic, at a decent price, since CTIC. Which Johns was also involved in. He's also done Green Lantern Rebirth and Flash Rebirth which helped bring the mythos together (more so for GLR.) Now he's been tasked with making the relaunch mesh with the elements that made DC great: legacy, a sense of history and in some cases that missing sense of character.

"Hot Books to Read" Pages on Websites

You ever notice how that 99% of the time their the same books? The big name characters that don't need any promotion to sell well? So we have companies that only really promote their big names and news/fan websites that do the same thing. I'm rarely interested in those books to begin with. I enjoyed Sword of Sorcery, Demon Knights, I Vampire and a bunch of titles that needed more promotion. Even JLI, RHATO, RHA and Booster Gold could benefit from some good PR.

I've done a couple of want lists and figured it was time to do another. I'd like to see these all be in the Icon DC Collectibles line. I'm not mentioning a few that appear on the past lists because we don't know if their appear but I'd still like to see them made.

More Designs

Here. Black Canary, Red Hood, Superwoman, Huntress and Deathstroke. Pretty solid design work although Jason has a few minor touches to make his different than his old RHATO look like the boots.

What canon do you think will go?

It sounds like Rebirth will be putting back some old canon and taking away some new. I've talked a little about the things I want to go but what do I think has the best chance of being retconned?

• The Amazons seducing men, killing them and trading the male babies. The Amazons of Paradise Island were more peaceful than the new 52 version and it seems likely that Rucka would want to bring that back. He might keep aspects of it since it could be transferred to the Bana-Mighdall. It might depend on whether or not Diana goes back to being created from clay. A lot of her new 52 story dealt with her being a Demi-God and her half siblings so changing it back pretty much gets rid of most of her new canon.
• It depends on how much DC wants to stick to Morrisons' stories but if not for the writer I could see them very easily getting rid of the fact Damian died. It really hasn't served much purpose besides Batman and Robin trying to outdo 20 years of Post-DITF grief. No other book really made a big deal out of it anyway.

I'm less certain of the others. Anything you think will be retconned?

Titans Variant

Where's Herald? Anyway it's kind of odd what a difference an artist makes. I like Donna and Roys' costumes better in this version. I can't tell if Roy still has his tattoos though.

I got the first Batman Eternal TPB and I didn't want to get anymore. I've had my problems with the characterizations and it made me want to avoid Barbara Gordon because I couldn't stand how she was written. Needless to say I'm not a fan of that series. I was hoping to have all that ignored completely and I was under the impression some of it would be forgotten. Especially the out of character bits and I definitely cringe when I see her interact with Jason. No, just no.

Booster Gold Movie?

There's some mention here along with Geoff Johns promising that there's a lot planned for the character and we'll see him soon. I hope so, he's barely shown up since JLI.

Too many Heroes in Gotham

With the back to basics feel DC wants to envoke with Rebirth it means many are headed back to Gotham. Doesn't that make it feel a little crowded?

Nightwing- Returning from being a spy to his Nightwing identity although Dick has the Titans, meaning he has an excuse to leave.

Batgirl- I think the Burnside story will wrap up bringing her back to Gotham. Working with BOP, which means at least two other heroes: Black Canary and Huntress.

Robin- Damian actually sounds like the one spending less time in the city and with the family. He'll be doing team ups in Super Sons and Teen Titans.

Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan (Cass), Azrael and Batwoman- All will be in Detective Comics, some will be in Bruces' training camp. I'm not sure about Azrael staying I just saw him in the art. No idea where Bette Kane/Flamebird/Hawkfire is but she did work with Kate in the past.

Red Hood- Working undercover to take down the underworld of Gotham with Artemis and Bizarro (neither will be close to him at the start so I doubt they know what he's doing.) This job seems to require him to stay in Gotham but at least he's doing something different than the rest.

Duke Thomas- Is doing something with Batman in Batman All Star.

Batwing- No idea but Luke Fox and his family were in Gotham last I heard.

We Are Robin- Hundreds of kids Alfred brought together. I believe the series is cancelled and I haven't heard what's going to happen with this idea.

Batman- Naturally although he leaves the city a lot for team ups.

Green Lantern Movie Rumor

That their have Hal, John and Kyle. No Guy?! Why do the higher ups not like my favorites? *sigh*

On the bright side this IS just a rumor at this point. Even without Guy having three GLs would be awesome. Plus there would still be potential for him and other GLs to appear in follow up movies.

90s...to the EXTREME!

Semi-Short Review no spoilers

I read Artemis Requiem #2 and yeah, I see why this series isn't thought so highly of. It's VERY 90s. There are guys wearing Liefield like costumes with names like Sureshot. Many, many thong butt shots and rushed plots that make no sense when you try to figure them out.

Maybe some things will be explained later on but it looks unlikely that the reasons will be satisfactory. The intention of this series feels obvious, the creators wanted to give Artemis her own niche to differ her from Wonder Woman and the Wonder Girls. Which is fine but everything is crammed in. There's hardly time to take anything in or allow anything to have weight. They just want to get to the ideas that might create a new series without really earning it.

I'm still having trouble seeing the same Artemis that became Wonder Woman as this character since she changed off panel. She doesn't even seem fazed by anything around her except for Diana. Like her situation isn't just a tad strange to her. I did consider getting Extreme Justice since I heard parts are so bad their hilarious but that might be too 90s for me. I'm not sure if I'll review the rest of this series but I will be getting more Artemis issues at some point. I got this series because I heard it mentioned her past. It did in passing and it looks unlikely that it will focus on anything beyond this headache of a plot. Gah!

Short Review: Artemis Requiem #1

According to the letter column Artemis was popular enough that they decided to do a mini series. I'm guessing this series wasn't loved because I don't recall her getting any starring roles afterward.

Artemis' First Arc

I figured the best place to start with Artemis of Bana-Mighdall was her introduction arc. I won't be getting into the entire plot just the parts focused on her and the main plot. The side plots won't be covered. From Wonder Woman #90, #0, 91-93

Anyone else worried about going into Rebirth?

There are a lot of good things to get excited about. Oracle is officially back in canon (granted part of the past), we have the old Superman back with his wife and son. The Titans are more than Tims' team. But there's one series I'm worried about going into the Rebirth. I don't want a good friendship to break up just to explain why one is on a team and the other is going undercover as a villain. Maybe it won't be so bad but it's good to be prepared.

There are other stories I'm concerned about like where Booster is, where Guy Gardner is and what's going to be done with some characters I love with writers I'm not fond of. But those are concerns for when Rebirth starts. It's weird to think that at the end of the month we'll get the first glimpse of things to come. I'll be trying out some of the titles although I won't officially be reading any new ongoings until July/August.

I'm also preparing for one book why reading up on Artemis to see how she'll differ or click with her pre-Flashpoint self. Reading past comments online I've seen a little criticism that she's rarely shown much besides her warrior side. Plus her origins should be intriguing as the Bana differ from the main Amazons and who knows if Rucka will change things from the present Amazon lore.

I remembered there being a mystery book that DC was planning on releasing for FCBD but when I looked up the comics on the offical website I didn't see one. Maybe it was going to be a lead into Rebirth before DC decided to do the DC Universe Rebirth issue?

The Importance of the Origin Story

Unless it's a beloved or interesting origin I tend to get bored but the origin story is important. It not only informs us of where the character came from it tells us who they are.

Red Hood and the Outlaws art

Looks like part of Jason's origin is canon again. I'm not too thrilled on how much older he looks in the art though. Still this was always something I loved about his origin. Taking it away removed some of his gutsy nature.

Timelines are giving me a headache

DC wants to make the universe younger then certain writers say years have passed while other books barely have any time pass. Damian is always a ten year old. It's annoying to the extreme especially since they ignore so much to try to have it both ways.

Red Hood and Arsenal #9 revealed another part of Roy's life he kept from Jason. Something that makes their friendship a little more interesting when you think of it.

Since this is going to be a plot in one of the books I'm reading I thought it might be fun to go over a few different types of undercover missions some characters have done, some of the consequences and how it might affect the new storyline.

Short Review: Lois and Clark #1

I'm going to get Super Sons but I need to know the backstory of one of the stars hence I'm getting back issues. Happily the older issues are marked down a dollar. This series tells the story of a couple from the old DCU raising their son in the new DCU. My digital comic reader wasn't working so well for awhile so here's hoping it doesn't hinder reading or downloading anymore.

Exploring what a Resurrection Means

A characters dies and comes back to life usually with very little development happening from the actual death. Most of the time characters--including the one who died--treat it like an unexpected vacation with very little consequence. But what if the death and resurrection are given weight and importance? What if their actually explored?

Two Years of Interconnecting stories

Until 2018 all DC books will apparently have a plot thread going through the titles that will connect to an upcoming storyline. Which sounds like it could get annoying fast if it isn't done right.

Or a waste of money if it's just something like Pandra showing up in the background. But Johns sounds like the right guy for the job so fingers crossed that this will add to a growing story without detracting from the solo titles.

You know who else would make a good super son?

How long does it take you to read a comic?

I read someone say five minutes while another person suggested you should take more time to study the issue. It depends on me. I brought a couple comics with me to read during my break at work but I always had to rush so I stopped doing it. I usually read them while I'm writing out my reviews to remember phrases and art details. That takes longer especially when I have a lot to say about a particular issue and reread sections. I'm a little fussing about it since I hate being interrupted. Bad issues I either speed read through or drop for awhile out of frustration.

Rebirth Books I'll be trying so Far

I wasn't too excited with the Rebirth titles when they were first announced but new information has me willing to try out a few books.

It seems like DC wanted to call the book Red Hood and the New Outlaws. Which doesn't work for me so I'm glad they didn't do it. I wrote what I could of the interview. Potential Artemis Controversy ?

I have no idea how she will be written but Artemis started out controversial. Back in the days of the "replace the original with a successor to show how great the original is" days Artemis took over as Wonder Woman. She met with a domestic abuse victim and things didn't go too well.

The Wolf Among Us Playthrough

For Sally. It's like watching a movie...well mini series since it's over seven hours. Things in the plot change base on what choices the player made, I'm not sure what choices the comic follows. If you just want to see the beginning it's here, spoilers for the stuff you haven't seen later on.

Unless rumors of them waiting are true we'll be getting all the names of the creative teams involved. I already heard a rumor of Tynion getting a big book, I just don't want anyone that was involved in the Eternal books to be writing RHATO. I'll be getting books depending on who's on these titles.
